Vatican envoy agrees to attend Holocaust service

JERUSALEM: The Vatican's ambassador to Israel agreed to attend a Holocaust memorial service on Sunday, reversing an earlier decision to boycott the event that threatened to upset relations between Israel and the Vatican.

Officials from Yad Vashem, where the event is taking place, the Vatican's Embassy and the Israeli Foreign Ministry confirmed Sunday that Franco had reversed his decision and would attend the ceremony.

The Vatican's ambassador, Monsignor Antonio Franco, announced last week that he would skip the opening event Sunday because of a caption at the museum describing the wartime conduct of Pope Pius XII.

The caption next to the picture of Pius in Yad Vashem's museum reads, "even when reports about the murder of Jews reached the Vatican, the pope did not protest," refusing to sign a 1942 Allied condemnation of the massacre of Jews.

Boy, that Ratzinger sure does everything possible to bring deep healing and understanding to the masses, doesn't he? :sarcasm:

By contrast, Pope John Paul II really does look like a saint (regardless of any disputed "miracles" and his own long tendency towards misogyny and the status quo)

3. I would consider the cardinals just as bad as Ratz
They put him in there and they are responsible for his actions.
