Roadside bombs kill 8; 30 bullet-riddled bodies found in Baghdad
BAGHDAD (CNN) -- A pair of roadside bombs exploded along a commercial street in central Baghdad's Karrada district Monday, killing eight people and wounding 23 others, police said.

The first bomb detonated around 7:30 a.m. (11:30 p.m. ET Sunday). The second bomb exploded as authorities and people in the area responded to the first attack.

April 16 (Reuters) - Following are security developments in Iraq as of 0600 GMT on Monday:

MOSUL - The bodies of six people, including a policeman, were found shot in different districts of Mosul, 390 km (240 miles) north of Baghdad, police said.

BAGHDAD - The bodies of 30 people were found shot in different districts of Baghdad on Sunday, police said.

MOSUL - Police in the northern city of Mosul said the death toll from an attack by two suicide bombers driving oil trucks outside an Iraqi military base on Sunday had risen to six. The U.S. military said four Iraqi soldiers were killed and four others wounded.

BAGHDAD - The final death toll from two car bombs that exploded in quick succession in a mostly Shi'ite district in southwestern Baghdad on Sunday had risen by two to 17, with 50 wounded, police said.

* BAGHDAD - U.S. forces killed three Iraqi policemen on Monday in a case of friendly fire during a raid against suspected al Qaeda militants in Ramadi, 110 km (70 miles) west of Baghdad, the U.S. military said. It said American forces had come under small arms fire during a raid in Ramadi and returned fire. Seven insurgents were arrested in the raid.

* BAGHDAD - The Iraqi army has killed seven insurgents and arrested 83 others in the past 24 hours in different parts of Iraq, the Defence Ministry said.

* HAWIJA - Gunmen killed the imam of a Sunni mosque in the town of Hawija, 70 km southwest of Kirkuk, police said.

* HAWIJA - The bodies of three people were found shot and tortured near the town of Hawija, police said.

* MOSUL - Gunmen killed a university professor near his house in Mosul, police said.

* BAIJI - Gunmen killed a tribal leader and wounded his son on a road near Baiji, 180 km north of Baghdad, police said.

BAGHDAD - At least 13 Iraqi soldiers were killed Monday when gunmen ambushed their military checkpoint near the northern city of Mosul, police said.

Another four soldiers were wounded in the attack, said police Brig. Saeed Ahmed al-Jibouri, director of Ninevah police.

The ambush occurred around 10 a.m. in the al-Abdaiyah area of Mosul, a mostly Sunni Muslim city 225 miles northwest of Baghdad, he said.

Earlier, radical cleric Muqtada al-Sadr ordered his followers to withdraw from Iraq's coalition government on Monday, the head of his parliamentary bloc said.

about 30 km (20 miles) south of Baghdad, police said.

* MOSUL - Gunmen killed Mohammed Abdullah al-Zubaidi, a senior member of the
former Baath party in western Mosul, about 390 km (240 miles) north of Baghdad,
a medical source at the Mosul morgue said.

* ISHAQI - A suicide car bomber targeting a police directorate killed two
civilians and wounded three policemen in Ishaqi, 100 km (60 miles) north of
Baghdad. Ten cars were destroyed.

* ISHAQI - Gunmen kidnapped five civilians in their cars in Ishaqi, police said.

* NEAR HIMREEN - Gunmen kidnapped nine workers and killed one on the way to

10. a strategic disaster
there is no way to pacify iraq without decimating the populace by brutalizing them into submission. we're not going to do that at this point.

its time someone in washington or the MSM has the balls to say: ITS OVER. AMERICA HAS LOST.

bush has led the nation straight into a ditch. we have no choice but to look to the Arab League & Iran for a post-withdrawal solution. It means 'negotiating from a position of weakness', it means listening to them blame us for every ill on the planet, it means swallowing our pride, it may even mean pushing Israel to withdraw from the West Bank entirely.

Congratulations to OBL & Saddam Hussein, they are strategic thinkers, whereas GWB is the worst president in the history of america. 9/11 should have been answered with love, but it was answered with fear.
