White House asked (Senator) Sessions for 'friendly' questioning
Source: AP

<snip>

According to e-mails released by the Justice Department last week, the White House reached out to Sessions in January to encourage "friendly" questions at a hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee. Sessions agreed, according to the e-mails, and the Justice Department later sent him talking points and a biographical "narrative" on the nominee, Tim Griffin, a former aide to Bush political strategist Karl Rove.

A few weeks later, Sessions provided some much-needed cover at a Feb. 6 hearing as Democrats questioned Griffin's qualifications and suggested his appointment was politically motivated.

"The nominee I think has got a far better track record than some would suggest," Sessions said at the hearing.

...

Lawmakers frequently ask flattering questions of friendly witnesses at hearings, and Sessions said in an interview with The Associated Press on Monday that his assistance on the prosecutor was nothing unusual.

"I don't do their bidding. But Mr. Griffin deserved a little fairer treatment and I didn't see anything wrong with raising that point," Sessions said. "As a matter of fact, I thought it was appropriate."

"I don't do their bidding," all appearances to the contrary
Whereupon Mr. Sessions accepted a Snenate Snausage from Karl Rove, and rolled over to have his belly rubbed.

8. Oh! I had it so wrong. Congress is elected by the people to do the President's bidding
Silly me. I thought Congress was elected by the people to do the people's/country's business.

Sure glad we got that straightened out.

12. What part of the word "oversight" do you not understand, Jeffie?
Oversight means the Senators ask the questions, the nominee answers them, dipshit.
