Hattiesburg AmericanWednesday evening, many University of Southern Mississippi students remained unaware of a classmate's arrest or its details.
Purvis resident and Southern Miss student Charles Wanwright, 25, is being held in the Forrest County Jail, charged with posting threats to the Internet.
Wanwright was arrested around noon Wednesday, campus officials said, after a faculty member reported to university police that the student had made threats through www.MySpace.com, a popular online networking site that allows users to communicate via pictures, e-mail, an instant messenger service, bulletins and blog entries.

The chief said it's too early in the investigation to release specifics, but did say authorities believe Wanwright may own weapons.
Before acting on reports of a threat, Hopkins said, investigators must determine if the threat is credible - and part of that is determining if the accused has the ability to carry out the threats.

Scary. Sounds like the UPD thought the threats were credible.
