36 California schools under lockdown
Source: MSNBC.COM

"YUBA CITY, Calif. - Authorities put all 36 schools in 12 Northern California school districts under lockdown Thursday as police searched for a man who claimed he was planning an armed attack that would “make Virginia Tech look mild.”

Sutter County sheriff’s officers were looking for Jeffery Thomas Carney, 28, a transient. Undersheriff J. Paul Parker told MSNBC-TV that Carney telephoned his pastor and and family members Wednesday night to say he had an automatic weapon, improvised explosive devices and poison."

1. This is so predictable
How many lockdowns will we see in the coming months? To take advantage of Americans all you have to do is wait 5 years after the last time you took advantage of them.

We have the collective patience and wisdom of a goldfish.

5. Remember when your mom used to tell you to ignore the bullies and they would just go away?
The new media is taking the opposite approach. Sensationalize and make celebrities out of the bullies so there will be...more of them?

Is it just me, or has genocide become a fad? All in the name of protecting innocent unborn children from being slaughtered, right?

11. Another link from a local news source

Sounds like a meth-crazed nutjobbie who should never have been let out of jail when they had him. Or should have been given compulsory drug rehab. Or shot. Or something. I don't know.

20. Lot's of cranksters in Yuba/Sutter
This problem should have been addressed years ago. This is a real safety issue not just "terra" as usual. These meth heads are bona fide nutjobs and their population has been growing exponentially for at least ten years.

22. We have a huge problem with it in San Diego too
Edited on Thu Apr-19-07 06:33 PM by slackmaster
I had a (I strongly suspect) meth head road rager latch on to me in Golden Hill and try to attack me. He passed me, then blocked my egress by screeching his Honda so as to block the one-way street we were headed down, got out of his car, and came storming toward me.

I did a fancy turnaround and ditched him. In my SUV.

The Sheriff reported a few years ago that 70% of people booked into the downtown jail tested positive for amphetamines.

The stuff is pure evil. Take enough of it, and it rewires the brain permanently.

13. People who live in that area haven't forgotten a local event in 1992 ...
Where a student at Lindhurst High School took a gun to school and killed 4 people in 1992.

Better to safe that sorry when kids and nut jobs are involved.

15. I mean, seriously.
It appears that violent crimes and high-prolife violence has skyrocketed in recent years and there is a strong argument that suspects that a culture of neo-fascism is responsible.

16. If you make it alive past high school and college and avoid malls,
fast-food outlets, and places of work in the U.S. of A., you might avoid being the victim of random violence, depending on your neighborhood.

Other countries have laws that restrict guns.
