April 27, 2007
House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Henry Waxman (D-Calif.) Friday invited former CIA Director George Tenet to testify before the panel on the pre-war claim that Iraq was seeking to acquire uranium from Niger.

In a new book due out Monday, Tenet describes the internal White House deliberations leading up to the beginning of the war.

The committee is holding a May 10 hearing on the issue. On Wednesday, it also voted along party lines to issue a subpoena for Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to compel her to testify on the claim that there was a Niger-Iraq uranium connection.

3. I don't think he'll do it,
That'll put his past testimonies (which may or may not have been under oath) at odds with what he may be claiming in his book.

There's something about lying to Congress that I seem to recall.............................

11. Tenet's past testimony was that he WARNED BUSH NOT to make the Niger claim
In fact, Tenet ordered the Niger claim REMOVED from bush's October 2002 speech. Which it was.

Then GEORGE W BUSH claimed, in his SOTU, that Iraq was seeking uranium from Niger...a claim GEORGE TENET had ALREADY DEBUNKED & ORDERED REMOVED.

There is absolutely NO CONFLICT between what Tenet said & what Tenet's book says.

13. that's true. my mistake,
what we would still need to know is what Tenet testified to before Congress in the past with respects to Niger. I don't remember what he had said in the past with respects to that issue. I'll have to look it up.

4. Shrewd, very shrewd of Chairman Waxman
We'll see if Tenet's testimony doesn't provide a little spur to Madame Secretary of State to reconsider her disinclination to respond to a congressional subpoena.

10. I sure hope he does
I'm tired of the foot dragging when it comes to finding out the truth as to how we wound up in this illegal war. Those that lied us into it need to be held accountable. Impeach, remove, prosecute and convict. And just how is it that thousands upon thousands of people across the globe marched in protests prior to "Shock and Awe" because we knew bush was lying us into a war yet those "in the know" didn't know?

15. Here's a question for Waxman to ask Tenet:
Were you aware of any plans by anyone in the Bush Junta to plant weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, after the invasion, to be "found" by the US forces who were hunting for them? Was this to be the follow-up to the forged Niger/Iraq nuke documents and Bush's "sixteen word" lie--that the Bush Junta, or some group or individuals working within it or for it, was to make this entirely false allegation come true, by planting the weapons?

Was this what "slam dunk" was all about? That it was a "slam dunk" to fool the public and the world that the weapons were Saddam's and not planted by us?

Cuz this makes more sense than the White House operatives putting the provably false Niger/Iraq nuke allegation back into Bush's speeches, after the CIA had taken it out. It makes more sense than this provably false allegation being part of a mere "war of words" between Cheney & Co. and those who opposed the invasion of Iraq. Why would White House insiders want Bush to be caught in a provable lie? Why put that in the President's mouth? Why not have Cheney, Rice and others merely suggest it with their "mushroom cloud" language while protecting the President with deniability? Why make this provable lie a DEFINITE, OFFICIAL, PRESIDENTIAL allegation? It makes little sense as a "war of words" issue. And it only starts to make sense if you presume that the forged Niger/Iraq nuke documents were Part One of a two-part plan, the second part of which was to plant and "find" the weapons in Iraq and triumphantly announce that the war was justified.

Answer that, Mr. Tenet. Were you aware of a Part Two to the Niger/Iraq nuke allegation scam? Did you ever hear about it from anyone? Did you talk to Bush or anyone else about it? Are you aware of any paper trail with regard to it? Were you part of it? Do you know of any such project in your own organization, the CIA, or Rumsfeld's "Office of Special Plans," or any other group or agency in the US or any other government (say, the Italian government?).

Somehow I doubt that Congr. Waxman will ask this. There is scant evidence for it, of course. (What do we think all the shredding of Plame docs and burning of hard drives that Alberto Gonzales assisted with--when he was White House counsel--was all about?) But it is the most logical of conclusions with regard to Bush Junta behavior around the Niger docs, and deserves a question. And, indeed, a full investigation.

--------------------------

One other question I would like Tenet to be asked, along these lines: Was he ever informed by British intelligence or anyone else WHAT British WMD expert and whistleblower David Kelly knew that had British intel's panties in such a twist the same week that Valerie Plame and Brewster-Jennings were outed? Does Tenet have any knowledge of the "uncomfortable things" that Tony Blair was told that David Kelly "could say" if he were dragged before a parliamentary committee--after his interrogation in the "safe house"?

Time-line:

May-June 2003: Kelly begins whistleblowing to the BBC about the "sexed up" pre-war intel. (Libby and Miller* clandestine meetings.)

Late June 2003: Kelly mysteriously outed to his bosses.

July 1-7 2003: Kelly interrogated.

July 6: Wilson publishes his article.

July 7: Blair informed that Kelly "could say some uncomfortable things" (Hutton Report).

July 14: Plame outed by Novak.

July 18: Kelly found dead, under highly suspicious circumstances; his office and computers are searched.

July 22: Novak ADDITIONALLY outs the entire Brewster-Jennings WMD counter-proliferation network, putting all of its agents/contacts around the world at risk of getting killed, and disabling all B/J projects designed to prevent the illicit spread of WMDs.

Are these dates just a fantastic "coincidence," Mr. Tenet? Or are these events connected? And if so, please tell this committee and the American people all of what the Bush Junta has really been up to, with regard to making this and their many lies come true, by devious means?

22. I hope Tenet wears it on his lapel when he testifies
It would balance out the little American flag pin that the traitorous republicons wear, pretending that they are actually "patriots." Such hypocricy.

House panel invites former CIA chief to testify

Reuters
Friday, April 27, 2007; 9:05 PM

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The chairman of a U.S. House of
Representatives investigative committee on Friday invited
former CIA Director George Tenet to testify about prewar
claims that Iraq sought weapons of mass destruction.

Rep. Henry Waxman, a California Democrat, who heads the
House Oversight and Government Reform Committee,
invited George Tenet, whose new book criticizes the Bush
administration, to testify at a hearing before the panel
on May 10.

"The purpose of the hearing is to learn your views about
one of the claims used to justify the war in Iraq - the
assertion that Iraq sought to import uranium from Niger
- and related issues," Waxman said in a letter addressed
to the care of Tenet's lawyer, Robert Barnett.

21. Tenet has me thrown for a loop.
I thought he was the only straight shooter in the bunch.
The "slam dunk" seemed to come out of nowhere.
Then came the medal.

WTF?

Now THIS!

I really don't know WHAT to make of Tenet, and
I don't think his book is going to help.

I DO think the truth bled out in a copse, out
of David Kelly's veins. I get the willies
wondering what went on out there.
