US in row with France over terror operation
By David Rennie in Washington
(Filed: 26/12/2003)

American and French officials yesterday traded mutual recriminations over the failure to snare any terrorists in the security operation that grounded six Air France flights in and out of Los Angeles.

Bush administration officials expressed frustration that al-Qa'eda operatives might have escaped capture after word leaked, early this week, of American concerns about flights from France to the United States over the Christmas period.

One official said Washington had been hoping to keep the US-French negotiations confidential, adding that the hope was that "we would be able to lure some of these people in".

However, a French interior ministry spokesman said little evidence of a terrorist plot had been found.

French authorities released seven men - one French, one American and several Algerians - whose names were found to be on US watch-lists.

The seven men were all due to board a flight on Wednesday and had been briefly questioned. French authorities found nothing to suggest the men had terrorist links.

1. Freepers going ballistic.
These people are idiots. Freepers. Unreal.

---------

Only STUPID americans can delude themselves into believing that France is anything but our most serious enemy and backer of the terrorist plot to overthrow our nation.

Their own ministers are now investigating assertions that FRANCE and GERMANY backed terrorists and palestinian terror lords, in order to destablilize the worldwide hegemony of power, that IS the United STates of America.

We are quite literally at war with France, worldwide fascistic islamo communism and a hoarde of jealous third world tin pots.

Evil France... could not face us down in a mano e mano confrontation, so they backed attacks on the USA... and THAT is what capturing sadaam and his minions will eventually uncover.

It will be a short "hot war" with France.. unless they can somehow get their allies, the former communist russian leadership, to launch a first strike on the USA.

Damn them.
Merry Christmas.

remains humiliated that the french have better information about terrorist networks than they have.
so they blame the french -- rather than themselves.
and of course the freepers -- being the mindless crew they are, play the amen chorus.

7. One of the first things I thought when I heard about the French planes...
was an attempt by the Bushistas to financially harm the French airlines. It may be tin-hat time for me, but * et al will stop at nothing in their quest for retribution against those who don't fall in lockstep with the Bushista/PNAC plan.

10. Question.
Why is the U.S. government upset about this?

I mean the article says; "American and French officials yesterday traded mutual recriminations over the failure to snare any terrorists in the security operation that grounded six Air France flights in and out of Los Angeles" If planes were grounded leaving LAX, then shouldn't the U.S. be upset with itself as well, for letting so called terrorists get away?

11. No
The 3 flights grounded out of LAX were the return legs of the flights from Paris that were stopped. Sort of hard to have a flight take off from LAX when the plane is not there to begin with.

12. They found nothing because there WAS nothing. This was a hoax
clear and simple designed to show US power over france and to give the right wing freaks here in the USA more ammo to 'hate the french' over.

It's tawk radio fodder to distract from the bush regime crimes.

22. A little update….
WASHINGTON (AP)--U.S. investigators are searching for a small number of people
who failed to show up at the Paris airport to board flights to Los Angeles that
fell under close scrutiny in a possible terrorist plot, including one person who
was receiving pilot training, a U.S. official said Friday.
The official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said investigators remain
interested in talking with those people to ease concerns some passengers aboard
those flights might have intended to use them to launch terror attacks against
the U.S.
One of those people who failed to show up for the flight was receiving pilot
training but was not yet certified, the official said.

Meanwhile, U.S. counterterrorism officials were turning to possible threats
next week that might target large, public gatherings, such as New Year's Eve
celebrations. One U.S. official said there was no specific information such an
attack was likely, but said such gatherings would obviously be an attractive

target for terrorists hoping to inflict large-scale casualties.
Already, Homeland Security officials have enhanced their ability to monitor
the air for biological warfare agents in 30 cities, one of several ways the
government is preparing for possible terrorist strikes during a high, Code
Orange alert.

24. I was wondering when that was going to come up. Like it wasn't on
most peoples minds anyway. They just continue to trickle to fear out. I also heard about HS being upset that their little "chats" with France weren't kept secret and that the "terraist" got tipped off and didn't show. Yet another un-named source. It will be interesting to see what turns up should France attempt to follow-up and locate any no-shows for the flight.

Who does or doesn't show up for the final final final boarding call doesn't mean a thing.

Who the hell is in charge of this fiasco?

I think it's because France is considering prosecuting Dick Cheney for his connections with Halliburton lawbreaking.

It's a message--go after Dick and we will retaliate.
