Cleric: Iran maintains anti-US policies

Tehran's Friday Prayers Leader says Iran is an anti-US government and will not backtrack on its policy towards Washington.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran is an anti-US government. The US is our enemy because we want the rule of justice and eradication of force and oppression in the world,” Ayatollah Ahmad Jannati said on Friday.

Turning to the recent Iran-US talks on Iraq, he said, "The Iraqi government made repeated requests to us to hold talks with the US on the country's security and Iran responded to the Iraqis' request."

"We had to warn the US that it shares the atrocities being committed in Iraq," he went on to say.
