Wal-Mart faces another class action lawsuit - 06/04/07

Class action lawsuit is becoming a common phrase when talking about Wal-Mart. The world’s largest retailer could be facing yet another massive suit now that the New Jersey Supreme Court ruled that of-the-clock allegations could proceed as a suit covering nearly 80,000 employees. The company was already hit for $78 million last year when a jury in Pennsylvania found Wal-Mart guilty of forcing employees to work off the clock. The case will cover all Wal-Mart workers in New Jersey since May 30, 1996.

1. They know they get caught why do they do it.

A good alternative would be to give the employee comp time. A lot of them don't have vacation time they would probably like to add comp time up and take a few days off with pay.

2. To them , lawsuits are just another cost of doing business.

To them , lawsuits are just another cost of doing business. In the long run they still probably end up paying less for the lawsuit, than for obeying the actual law. As long as that is the case they will continue to try and get away with as much as they can.
