Abandoned baby not that of missing woman
Source: MSNBC.COM

Updated: 2 hours, 47 minutes ago

WOOSTER, Ohio - A baby girl found on an Ohio doorstep does not belong to a missing pregnant woman, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department said Friday. The baby was discovered about 45 miles from the home of Jessie Davis, who was nine months pregnant with a girl when she disappeared last week.

A woman admitted leaving the newborn on the doorstep, Wayne County Sheriff Thomas Maurer said.

“This incident is not related to the ongoing investigation by the Stark County Sheriff’s Office in the disappearance of Jessie Davis,” Maurer said in a news release.

1. Wow, what timing that woman had to abandon that baby then.

5. I think the woman abandoned the baby very soon after birth, not
worrying that there was a pregnant woman missing.

2. Well, that's interesting. If the baby had belonged to the missing woman,
then her abduction and probable murder would make no sense whatsoever.

3. that's what the nurse had wondered ...
She said she had a strong hunch that the baby's mom knew her (or at least knew the family).

4. It was unlikely that baby could have belonged to the missing woman.
That baby was described as a white female, and the missing woman's baby would be biracial.

6. "color" doesn't matter ...
... HippieKid is bi-racial and until she was about 6 months old, she was as white as I am.

7. It doesn't really matter anymore because it's someone else's baby.

I don't think authorities ever thought the baby really belonged to the missing woman, they were just doing DNA tests to make sure. Baby being described as "very white" was just one of the reasons it didn't look likely the baby belonged to the missing woman. The other reason is the timing was off. The woman went missing late night Wednesday/Thursday, and the baby when she was found next week was less than 24 hours old.
Yet another reason the woman who found a baby was a nurse so whoever abandoned the baby likely knew that.

8. I agree, but my point is ...
... (and even infamous lawyer Jeffrey Feiger was guilty of the mis-characterization on MSNBC the other night) ... that bi-racial children can be 'just as white' as caucasian kids, and to assume in any kind of case that it's 'the wrong child' because of his/her 'lack of color' is just mis-informed.

11. I've got to agree.
Bi-racial kids come in all colors and many children of all background get darker as they age. Here are a couple of my own baby pics-

10. And the unborn child may NOT have been Cutts's child
They had to be ready for any possibility, which is why the DNA test had to be taken.

13. I agree.
Not because of skin color (Seal's kids with Heidi Klum are blond and pale), but because a nurse was repeatedly interviewed and asserted that the child was likely the child of a patient of the program. Plus, the child was 45 miles away. The only connection was made by the media.

14. Funny thing, turns out the child wasn't a child of a patient in a program.

Apparently the mother is an adult woman who picked the house randomly (or so has been reported), and not some pregnant teenager who knew the owner of the house was a nurse.
