Rev. Jesse Jackson arrested during anti-gun protest (Chicago, IL)

Two of the city's best-known activists wound up in police custody Saturday after a protest against gun violence outside a suburban gun store.

Revs. Jesse Jackson and Michael Pfleger, a South Side priest, were arrested about 1:30 p.m. for trespassing outside Chuck's Gun Shop in south suburban Riverdale, authorities said.

Though the arrests resulted in a minor charge for each man, it provided yet another platform from which to denounce the gun violence they say is plaguing the streets of Chicago.

As the two men were released from custody about 3 p.m., they walked triumphantly to the front of the Riverdale police station, where they were met by more than 50 cheering supporters, clapping and singing, "Victory Is Mine."

2. Loitering?
Maybe they got him on some kind of loitering law that disallows people from standing in the entrance to a store.

I thought he'd be in Ohio making sure Bobby Cutts doesn't get run over by the Canton cop force.

10. maybe if he had bought a slushie from a 7-11 it wouldn't have been
considered loitering.

13. Its no different than LA or any other big city. Chicago needs to quit trying to control its
neighbors. The problem with symbolic protests, is that the site/person protested is rarely in a position to control/fix the problem. This is a classic case of exactly that. If that gun store closes or moves, it will not impact the violence in Chicago one bit.

The current moves to ban manufacture within Illinois of certain firearms and accessories are another good example. It will be a meaningless symbolic victory for Jesse and other Chicago pols, but do nothing to their violence problems. The Illinois companies that legislation will put out of business will simple move to a more rationale state and take their jobs with them. Of course those are not Chicago jobs, so it won't matter, at least not to Jesse and the Chicago pols.

11. Than you should have no problem
with right wing lunatics blocking the entrance to an abortion clinic. A gun store and an abortion clinic are both legal. Protesters do not have the right to block the entrance to either.

12. Not sure where you draw that conclusion from
Blocking an entrance to a legal business gets you arrested. That works for me. IIRC abortion clinic have a bit better protection in some if not all jurisdictions, but I would have to look it up to be specific.
