White House Not Saying if it will Comply with Subpoenas
Source: AP

The White House is giving no indication as to whether it will comply with subpoenas from the Senate Judiciary Committee. The panel wants documents relating to President Bush's eavesdropping program.

A White House spokesman says officials are aware of the subpoenas and that it was "unfortunate that congressional Democrats continue to choose the route of confrontation."

Also named in the subpoenas are Vice President Cheney's office, the Justice Department and the National Security Council.

A statement from committee chairman Senator Patrick Leahy's office says the four parties have until July 18th to comply. It also says there is "no legitimate argument" for withholding the requested materials.

2. Route of Confrontation
ASswipes! They obstruct, dismiss, ignore and otherwise make up their own special rules to NOT comply, and they're complaining about confrontation?

Gee...and the Repugs have never been confrontational? Am sure they were quite polite as they sought to ruin Bill Clinton and impeach him... :sarcasm:

Until they are held in contempt of congress. I don''t know how many votes that takes. A few Republicans may go along with it. All the Dems better stick together!!!!!

Do they even pretend to be the 'law and order' party anymore? Or have they dropped that ruse completely?

12. I just hope the Dems put some teeth behind this.
A subpoena is only as good as the enforcement muscle behind it.
