Probe prompts questions about B.C. Rail deal (ongoing BC drugs story)

The $1-billion privatization of B.C. Rail, the Liberal government's first significant sell-off since coming to office two years ago, has been drawn into a growing controversy over the highly unusual RCMP raid of offices in the province's legislative building.

Police remained silent Tuesday about their reasons for seizing more than 30 boxes of government files from offices of Robert Virk, a ministerial assistant to Transportation Minister Judith Reid, and David Basi, a ministerial assistant to Finance Minister Gary Collins.

Still to early to say what exactly is going on, but clearly these are ripples in a pretty big pool.

1. Where's the drugs?
I don't see any mention of an ongoing BC drugs story, but maybe I missed the first installment?

Legislature raid was about illegal drugs
At least one search warrant was specifically part of a drug investigation

2. Hahahahahaha! The Americans are buying BC
Doesn't it seem a but strange that liberal party memberships have grown in the past two years at an astronomical rate? Gee, perhaps this started just about when Mr. Chretien started talking about retirement? No, it couldn't be so, the American business interests would never try to manipulate Canadian politics for their own benefit. For myself, I will be very surprised if many of the new liberal party members are not American financed.
