U.S. Military to Take Over Halliburton Oil Role

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. military said on Wednesday it would soon take over Halliburton's role of getting fuel into Iraq (news - web sites), a decision that follows a draft Pentagon (news - web sites) audit that found Vice President Dick Cheney (news - web sites)'s old firm may have overcharged for the job.

The Pentagon's Defense Energy Support Center (DESC) said it had expanded its traditional mandate of providing fuel to the U.S. military and would now be responsible for importing and distributing fuel products to the Iraqi people.

"This is the first time our agency has been given this kind of work," said DESC spokeswoman Lynette Ebberts, who declined to comment on whether the DESC was taking the work because of price gouging allegations against Halliburton.

That's why privatization is such a GOP ripoff! In order to deliver the same goods and/or services plus pay out profits to stockholders and/or corporate owners, PLUS pay higher civilian salaries, not to mention the exorbitant executive salary/perks/golden parachute retirement plans to the top executives, corporations HAVE to charge considerably more or charge the same and cut drastically back on the quality and /or quantity of goods/services or, as Halliburton has done - both drastically overcharge AND underdeliver.

ignore all signs that they are trying to do too much with too little and too few.

Or will he activate some units that haven't been activated before..mebee a telecommunications unit to drive trucks, or artillery to examine fuel quality...How many units have NOT been activated?
