Powell says U.S. foreign policy respects allies (Great Pic)

(wink wink)

LONDON (Reuters) - U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell says President George W. Bush's foreign policy takes account of its allies and ascribes a key role to the United Nations.

"U.S. strategy is widely accused of being unilateralist by design. It is not. It is often accused of being weighted in favour of military methods. It is not," he wrote in an article for The Times published on Tuesday.

"The president's strategy is one of partnerships that strongly affirms the vital role of NATO and other U.S. alliances - including the U.N."

Powell is an advocate of multilateralism and has advised the Bush administration to pursue foreign policy goals through international institutions as much as possible.

4. PR Stunt
Rove has done the numbers and worked out that whilst the freepers like the red meat, the general voting population prefer a slightly more moderate stance so up to the election you are going to see a little more of Powell going around saying nice moderate things, with the neo-cons put on the back burner, and then possibly you are going to get the occasional world leader saying "there is a definate change in bush*, he is a lot more moderate lately."

And then if he wins the election in November, it is going to be business as normal.

I don't know why people complain about comparing bush* to Hitler, bush* is worse.

8. body language
If that photo was actually taken while he was speaking, it might be relevant. The gesture, when made with the left hand, could indicate, "See me lie."

When people are lying, there is often a left hand gesture to the mouth, ears, or eyes.

On another note, have you noticed how often their response to criticism is "did not." That's it, nothing more: just denial. How simplistic; unconvincing. Lame might be a better word.

18. "there is often a left hand gesture to the mouth, ears, or eyes." - right
.
.
. A quick Google turned up this:

LYING - A DISEASE OF THE HEART

"The moment one begins to lie, the body sends out contradictory signals to cause facial muscle twitching, expansion and contraction of pupils, perspiration, flushing of cheeks, increased eye blinking, tremor of hand and rapid heart rate. These constitute the basis of lie detector instruments. In addition, you will notice the liar is unconsciously doing some movements, like covering his mouth, nose touching, eye rubbing, scratching the side of the neck, rubbing his ear, etc."

/snip/

"The worst lying form is lying upon the God and the Messenger, i.e., attributing things to God or the Prophet without it actually being the case,"

/snip/

GEE - I think this was written for King George and his minions!!

14. ...and,
Powell is not a liar.:eyes: Sorry, Uncle Tom, your bogus UN presentation and the illegal attack on a sovereign state clearly belie your statements.
Sleep with pigs, wake up covered in shit, as they say in Iraq.
Time for a citizen's tribunal. Ready, aim, verdict!

16. GEE, - - My apologies for misunderstanding the USA Administration
.
.
. I was beginnin' to think they din like us Canuks

And hey, what's with Reuters ? - they not allowed to mention Canada ??

From the Article:

"Traditional U.S. allies, notably France and Germany, strongly opposed the war in Iraq, which Washington launched along with Britain without United Nations approval."

I guess they din like our Chretien's responses to the BFEE and gang

Or maybe we're not an "ally" anymore ?

Time to start building some of our Snow Forts !!
(maybe we got a gattlin' gun or two kickin' around here!)

20. Well, alrighty then, I am convinced.
For a moment there, I thought we were pretty much kissing off the UN and our traditional allies. But then I guess it depends on how one defines "respect". Kind of like Mark Anthony using "honorable" when referring to Caesar's assassins.
