U.S.: Bombs by al-Qaida militants kill 57 in Iraq
Source: MSNBC

BAGHDAD - Bomb attacks killed 57 people and wounded more than 120 across Iraq on Wednesday as suspected al-Qaida militants stepped up a campaign of violence coinciding with the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

In a mainly Shiite district of southwest Baghdad, twin car bombs killed 32 people in one of the biggest attacks to hit the Iraq capital in weeks.

The bombs detonated shortly before dusk when most people were preparing for the evening meal, which ends a daylong fast during Ramadan.

“There has indeed been an increase in violence in the last few days, largely in areas in which al-Qaida in Iraq operates and with al-Qaida in Iraq signatures, as they have sought to ramp up attacks,” U.S. military spokesman Maj. Gen. Kevin Bergner said.

6. Are they sure it was Al-Qaeda? Or was it Iran? Or maybe Iran-Qaeda?
I love how they play both sides. Was it Shiites or Sunnis in this particular attack? Who will we support/vilify today?

9. The Military blamed both Al Qaeda and Iran
Edited on Wed Sep-26-07 03:07 PM by antiimperialist
The NY Times quoted an "expert" saying that "the bombs were consistent with other munitions of this type suspected of having been smuggled from Iran.

But earlier in the same article someone else blamed Al Qaeda.

15. Always al Queda or is it al Qaida?
If a group of Roman Catholic nuns blew up the American embassy, it would be attributed to al Queda which apparently is al Quaida in Iraq which apparently is not the same as al Queda. Not that most Americans can make the distinction. Most Americans see al Qaida or and just see Osama bin Laden. And start cowering in the corner and waving their little flags and praying to the mean old man in the sky to protect them and their president who is all who stands between them and these horrible Muslims who will rape the women and children and behead the men. Some of whom probably would think more clearly if they were beheaded.

How do you we know its not our own behind the bombings? Nothing about this administration would surprise me.
