BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- Iraqi police fired shots Tuesday at a group of former Iraqi soldiers who tried to enter a bank in the southern city of Basra after demanding pensions and stipends.
A British military spokesman said at least one former soldier had a gunshot wound in the leg. At least two people were wounded, according to witnesses. There were no reports of any deaths.
A group of about 6,000 ex-soldiers staged the protest on the 83rd anniversary of the former Iraqi army.
British troops restore order Tuesday after former Iraqi soldiers demonstrated in Basra.
I guess that's why it been quiet in Iraq the last few days? Everyone was getting ready for the big protests? Now that the DOD is starting the biggest troop rotation in history, things are going to get very messy.
