Army Calls Up More Reservists for Iraq

WASHINGTON - The number of military reservists called to active duty jumped by more than 10,000 in the past week, the Pentagon (news - web sites) said Wednesday, reflecting an Army mobilization of National Guard and Reserve troops for Iraq (news - web sites) to relieve the forces that have been there nearly a year.


Guard and Reserve troops will play a larger role in the new force, representing nearly 40 percent of the total of 110,000 troops, compared with about 20 to 25 percent of the force there now. They have been told they will spend up to 12 months in Iraq, meaning many will be on active duty for about 18 months, including a pre-deployment training period and a demobilization. ....

so said Gen.(ret) Maccafry(i hope that how its speeled) last night during an interview. He said the Us cannot possibly keep up with this arrangement long and that perhaps a division would have to come out of Iraq(he point to northern Iraq as the place for troop reductions). He said that would be a mistake and that Iraq is ripe for a civil war..

I guess we are going to be in Iraq for the rest of lives..

11. Indiana reservist dies after suffering burns in Iraq attack

Here is a typical reservist who had the misfortune of being deployed to Iraq. He suffered horrible wounds after his truck hit a land mine. He was airlifted to San Antonio, where he died of his wounds. Since he died stateside, his name will not be counted among the dead of this misguided and criminal war.

Brookston reservist dies after suffering burns in Iraq attack

An Army Reservist from a unit based in Lafayette who died after the truck in which he was riding struck a land mine in Iraq understood that serving his country might cost his life, his sister said.

"I know my brother is in a better place," Johanna Frist said Monday following the death of her brother, Spc. Luke Frist. "He died doing what he loved. He knew the sacrifices when he signed up, and he loved fighting for our freedom."

Luke Frist died Monday from burns he suffered over 95 percent of his body. "His body just couldn't take it any longer," said Johanna Frist, who was acting as the family spokeswoman from the family home in Brookston, a White County town of about 1,700 people about 14 miles north of Lafayette.

She said her 20-year-old brother was pronounced dead at Brooke Army Hospital in San Antonio. Military officials informed the family of his death Monday afternoon, she said.
