Fox News refuses to run pro-Constitution ad
Source: Media Matters

Fox News has refused to air an ad produced by the Center for Constitutional Rights that criticizes the Bush administration for "destroying the Constitution" by the use of renditions, torture, and other tactics. The ad, "Rescue the Constitution," which is narrated by actor Danny Glover, can be viewed here and here.

In an email provided to Media Matters for America by the Center, Fox News account executive Erin Kelly told Owen Henkel, the Center's e-communications manager, that Fox would not run the ad:

Hi Owen --

We cannot approve the spot with it being Danny Glover's opinion that the Bush Administration is destroying the Constitution. If you have documentation that it is indeed being destroyed, we can look at that.

Sorry about that,

Erin

In 2005, Fox refused to run an ad critical of then-Supreme Court nominee Samuel Alito Jr., who had been nominated by President Bush to succeed retiring Justice Sandra Day O'Connor.

I'm sure there are grounds for it--ample ones.

Watch the Ad that Fox Won’t Let You See
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=385x73683

Found it on Scott Horton's blog with this comment:

Scott Horton - Dec 3, 2007 - http://harpers.org/archive/2007/12/hbc-90001838

The Center for Constitutional Rights tried to take space to run this advertisement on Fox TV tomorrow and Wednesday—the day on which the Supreme Court will hear oral argument. The issue before the Court is vital: Did George Bush unconstitutionally terminate the right of habeas corpus? Yes, he did terminate it. And thanks in part to Fox, most Americans aren’t even aware of the fact. But Fox viewers aren’t going to learn about it any time soon, because the official network of the Republican Party won’t show the ad, or permit anyone to discuss the subject.

13. I'd feel soo much better
if this came as any surprise. Unfortunately it's reached the point where nothing that sorry excuse for a news outlet does surprises me. Too bad the FCC never seems to enforce the "operating in the public interest" clause.

16. And you just know they were laughing their asses off
when they wrote that response "Good one, Erin! Hah!" and undoubtedly they circulated it all through the corporate offices. I bet they thought that was the funniest thing ever. You can tell by their attitude.

f***ing a**holes.

Well, America allows for all types, so we have to allow Fox, but its influence is a bit disconcerting. More and more, though, I think people are learning it has an extreeeeme bias. Not quickly enough for my taste, but little by little. They aren't gaining a better reputation, let's put it that way.

18. So FOX! They want Proof For a commercial! But the NEWS? Find proof or a fact there.
So so FOX!! Danny G. is reading the comments, so it must be Danny's opinion and they want proof. Of course they would think someone reading a script was giving an opinion, that's how their whole "news program" works.

Proof that the Constitution is being destroyed. I think I heard this quote once in a three stooges cartoon, "Just look everywhere. You'll find it."

Proof. For a Commercial!!

For their "news" which is read by their "newscasters" but is FOX management OPINION - no proof is needed.

Down the Rabbit Hole right to FOX NEWS.

Where the commercials are fact checked and the "news" is, by the very logic if not words of News Account Executive Erin Kelly, opinion and therefore facts optional.

It should be revised to indicate FAUX CRAP supports the destruction of the Constitution.

Run the ad, and then run an anti-Constitution ad to balance it. Like, maybe an old Bush ad.
