Kennedy chides Bush over Iran nukes
Source: By Evan Lehmann, Eagle Washington Bureau

WASHINGTON — President Bush should look at the "hard facts" surrounding Iran's nuclear program and stop issuing military threats against the Islamic nation, Sen. Edward Kennedy said today. "The last thing America needs is to be misled into another war based on hype and trumped up intelligence," Kennedy said.

His comments followed Bush's remarks today saying Iran continues to pose a threat to global security, despite the findings of a U.S. National Intelligence Estimate released Monday concluding the country halted its nuclear program four years ago.

. . .

In a press conference today, Bush did not back down from his earlier assertions.

"What's to say (Iran) couldn't start another covert nuclear weapons program?" Bush added. "And the best way to ensure that the world is peaceful in the future is for the international community to continue to work together to say to the Iranians, 'We're going to isolate you.'"

Kennedy says the U.S. needs "to ratchet up our diplomacy and continue working with the international community," but he said Bush should stop issuing intimidating military threats.

1. I truly think that remarks by prominent Senators like Kennedy...
will make it very difficult for this Administration to follow through with an attack on Iran! Hope that we get more big names speaking out on this issue.

4. Kennedy has been reading up...
The NIE report released Monday totally refutes the * claims about Iran building the bomb.

Once again one of his own agencies tells him what he SO does not want to hear.

Ummmm I feel another WHIG coming up...

11. Yes, they did.
He wouldn't even call on Helen Thomas, but David Gregory, of all people, was asking questions an actual journalist would.

I only got to read the presser thread and watch a short clip, but the Chimp n' Chief wasn't a happy boy.

6. They really really need to stop quoting W or anyone in the White House as a reliable source
The only ones who believe it is even relevant are inside the beltway
