New rules for Iraq security firms
Source: BBC News

The US Pentagon and state department have agreed on procedures which they say will improve oversight of private security contractors operating in Iraq.

The move gives US military commanders a greater role in co-ordinating the movements of private security staff guarding US diplomats and the military.

The deal also sets new standards for inquiries into alleged rule breaches.

The new agreement says contractors will be accountable for criminal acts under US law, which correspondents say partly clarifies what happens if a contractor breaks the law.

1. New rules for Iraq security firms
The new rules seem inadequate to me. Where are the rules for punishing the security firms for the murders that they have already commited?

7. LOL, you are correct!
We know how much that "piece of paper" as well as those other pieces of paper called treaties mean to the bush cabal so we can extrapolate from that how much any other "pieces of paper" mean.

8. Simple. The USA can only change the US laws.
If the Iraqi government wants to try them in Iraq for crimes in Iraq, they need to update their own laws to allow for it.

5. Partly clarifies
means that nothing has changed. "Partly clarifies" leaves intentional loopholes for this scum to climb through.
It's just another appeasement move that means nothing.

9. So now they can't force military forces to stand down?
Well that is some progress, I guess.
