Bush's verbal gaffe inundates Texan school with phone calls
Source: San Antonio Post

Washington, Dec 11 : US President George Bush is famous for his verbal gaffes, only this time, one such gaffe inundated a small school with numerous telephone calls.

During a national televised address last week on the issue of rising mortgage payments, President Bush urged people to call a helpline number for getting advice on how to ease the problem of rising bills, but gave the wrong number.

Instead of uttering the helpline number as 1-888-995-HOPE, Bush urged the people to dial 1-800-995-HOPE, not once, but twice. The latter telephone number belongs to Freedom Christian Academy in Texas, which started receiving calls from families, seconds after Bush completed his speech.

"I've tried my best to give the correct number to these people when they called, but today it got a little overwhelming because I couldn't do anything except answer these calls," The Telegraph quoted academy's Karen Pulaski, as saying to the Dallas Morning News.

The academy has unplugged the phone to avoid receiving the calls.

1. bush** is a case of savage ingorance. His only skill is destruction and
chaos, decent human behavior is totally beyond the man. Even the smallest normal actions are too much for his little brain to process. But he's pure evil by breeding and instinct and that's where his skills are.

2. I'm not sure it was an accident.
Dub is the sort that would think that giving out the wrong number to people who were desperately trying to hang onto their homes was right funny!

After all, they's only peasants and such.

11. I believe
that is exactly what he intended to do. Somebody (Cheney) told him to give that number out. These peons don't need any help, the mortgage companies need help, george.

HIS ARROGANCE IS SURPASSED ONLY BY HIS IGNORANCE

19. He gave out the wrong number
to find out if there is anybody listening. But that would mean that the 29 percenters are in trouble. Or maybe just looking for a hand-out.

21. Helpful tip: most phone services allow calls to be automatically forwarded
If mrbush gives out YOUR phone number next time, set it up right away. Yes, you might miss a few of your own calls, but you can pick where to have them sent to also. Just think of the possibilities.

22. Not the first time he's messed up a phone number, either!
Remember a while back, people were wondering how badly * could fail at particular jobs. Well, I guess we can rule out the Home Shopping Network, telemarketing, and running a PBS pledge drive (or Jerry Lewis's Labor Day telethon).

"For those of you out there who are interested in participating, I want you to call up this number, 1-800-USA-CORPS, or to dial up on the Internet, www.citizencorps.gov."

Actually the phone number is 1-877-USA-CORPS (he gave out the toll-free number for AppleOne Employment Services Inc. of Glendale, California) -- Apr. 8, 2002

23. why didn't they just record a message with the right number instead of unplugging?
All they had to do is record a message with the right number and say if you're calling about school biz leave a message. Duh.

"freedom christian academy" that sounds scary.
