Bogota envoy tells U.S. to listen

Although Colombian president Uribe is a US lap dog, it appears the Colombian Ambassador is not. This is good.

That is Colombian Ambassador Luis Alberto Moreno's advice for President Bush and U.S. officials heading to his second summit with Latin American leaders today.

This Special Summit of the Americas -- the kind of affair that ordinarily might warm hemispheric relations -- has the makings instead of the diplomatic equivalent of a bullfight.

Moreno, a five-year veteran of dealing with Washington, wants U.S. officials to understand festering resentments of what some see as the United State's imperial power.

Across Latin America "the fruits of globalization have not come as anticipated," he said in an interview Friday. "This has changed political behavior in many countries."

Looks as if he's getting the response in Mexico he got in Europe, too.

Guy's not using the right bait, you'd think he'd realize.

It would seem that if he took a look out, he'd see he's massively unpopular.

6. Yep. Looks like it might be ramping up pretty good

The press is admitting that *hundreds* are marching, but I gotta feeling it's a lot more than that by the looks of the police. Worth keeping an eye on today and tomorrow. Also anxiously waiting for news about Hugo Chavez, Lula, and Argentina's Kurchner and what they have to say :-)
