Bush 'loses patience' with Syria

Bush 'loses patience' with Syria

US President George W Bush says he has long since
lost patience with Syria's President Bashar al-Assad,
and has ruled out opening a dialogue with him.

"He doesn't need a phone call, he knows exactly
what my position is," Mr Bush said at a year-ending
news conference.

-snip-

"My patience ran out on President Assad a long time
ago," Mr Bush told reporters at the White House.

"The reason why is because he houses Hamas, he
facilitates Hezbollah, suiciders go from his country
into Iraq, and he destabilises Lebanon."

8. Would this be the same Syria that took in around 2,000,000 refugees
from Iraq? The United States would really be presiding over a blood bath if those people had remained in Iraq!

28. No a secure supply route to Iran.
Remember Iran is NORTH of the Persian Gulf. Iraq is at the END of the Persian Gulf. The Supplies to the US military in Iraq, must come UP the Gulf or fly over Turkey. You can NOT support an Armor invasion by Air supply only, Armor uses to much fuel. The fuel for the Tanks MUST come from tankers traveling through the Gulf (Which can be easily shit off by the Iranians, or at least make the supply line costly as more and more ships get sunk by Iranian Missiles).

The only other Traditional way to Invade Iran is to follow Alexander the Great route, which first secured the coast (Lebanon) and then Damascus before moving into Iraq. The US holds Iraq, but NOT Damascus or Lebanon. Bush can view both as one operation and secure a GROUND supply line from Beirut to Baghdad and then to attack Iran from Iraq. The Turks might upset this by making the Kurds unhappy but Bush is willing to buy off the Turks with permission to Kill Kurds, and buy off the Kurds by saying nothing about their claim for Independence (i.e. leave the Kurds assume that means approval for Independence when Bush cares less, he wants to attack Iran).

Once the US holds Lebanon and Syria (and they are more cooperative then the Shiites and Sunnis in Iraq have been) then an all out attack on Iran can commence.

Now over the last two years people have been saying the US does NOT have the troops to launch a Ground Attack on Iran. The expectation has been on an Air Attack. With Carriers in the Arabian Sea, and Air Force Planes in Iraq this could be done, with no need for a secure supply line through Syria (Through a Secure Supply line would make it easier to supply the Air Force Planes in Iraq and minimize the supply problems for our soldiers in Iraq given any attack on Persian Gulf Shipping by Iran). Kuwait could ships its oil straight to Baghdad since it is just South of Iraq (provided it wants to given its population is overwhelmingly Shiite and thus natural allies with Iran, while its Leadership is Sunni and tied in with Bush and Company).

My suspicion is any attack on Syria will be to secure a supply line to Iraq for some sort of attack in Iran. If Syria is attacks it will be to secure such a supply line. The question them becomes is this to support such an Air Attack or an Air and Ground Attack? While I lean to only an Air Attack, the supply situation in Iraq may be so bad that any disruption of supplies by the Iranians could make the US Troops in Iraq untenable, thus the need for the Supply line via Syria.

As to the oil, it will come from the Strategic Reserve for Iran will knock out transport from all of the Persian Gulf Countries (Including itself). This will hurt Iran, do to lack of domestic Iranian gasoline production, but the best way Iran can defend itself from US military pressure. Lets see what happens.

14. That's odd...Zarkozy lost patience with Assad yesterday...go figger
Sarkozy loses patience with Assad
“I have reached the end of the road with Assad. Words alone won’t suffice, I want actions,” French President Nicolas Sarkozy was quoted as telling reporters Wednesday at the Champs-Élysées in Paris.

France has grown increasingly impatient with Syria, particularly over its intervention in Lebanese politics and its alleged involvement in political assassinations in the country.

30. Sarkozy is going to have French troops aid in the US invasion???
The French are already in Lebanon as a "Peace Keeping force", thus in a good position to help in any US invasion of Syria (much better than the British who are tied up in Barsa in Southern Iraq). The French have Tanks in Lebanon, which could assist an Air and Marine Assault on Lebanon and Syria. Speculation just all.

31. The US actually Invaded Iraq about a Month late, the summer wind storms slowed down the Invasion.
The Summer Storms start in about May, the US Invasion was hindered by the Storms as it march to Baghdad. Thus if Bush wants to attack before May he has to start preparing NOW for the invasion. i.e. start his propaganda to say WHY the US must invade. It will take 3-4 months for such a message to take hold, but he has to start NOW to do it. Remember Bush has to justify his invasion to the world, not convince the world that the Invasion is necessary, just come up with an excuse (Thus this attack on Syria for NOT supporting the US, Bush care less if it is true, it is just an excuse).
