Bush Tries to Assure Families on Economy
Source: Associated Press

CRAWFORD, Texas (AP) -- President Bush tried Saturday to assure many families that he knows they are struggling to pay bills, even as he again defended the economy's strength.

''Some of you worry about your ability to afford health care coverage for your families,'' Bush said in his weekly radio address, recorded at his Texas ranch.

''Some of you are concerned about meeting your monthly mortgage payments,'' Bush said. ''Some of you worry about the impact of rising energy costs on fueling your cars and heating your homes. You expect your elected leaders in Washington to address these pressures.''

He never retreats from the swift-boating lies. It's the same old strategy - lie like crazy, and usurp your opponents' strengths. Without question, the chimp has done everything he could to eliminate health care coverage from kids (see SCHIP), to withhold heating assistance from the poor and elderly, to deny the government from taking any action that might help average people, instead of Halliburton and Blackwater. This is breathtaking in its arrogance, and whoever wrote it for him must have laughed out loud as they did it.

Everything he has done caused the situation we are in today.

Earmarks? How about the Iraq War Earmark?

How about you firing your economic advisors when they revealed the truth: that this war was going to cost trillions of dollars and put us into debt for generations to come?

All Hat. No Cattle.

11. I think the real dividing line b/n the haves and the have nots are the new mothers
the mothers in the 'have families' can afford to stay at home to be full time moms

the mothers in the 'have not families' have to get back to work ASAP to TRY
to make ends meet

5. Chasm widens between rich and poor in U.S.
http://www.iht.com/articles/2007/12/16/business/income.php

By David Cay Johnston
Published: December 16, 2007

NEW YORK: The increase in incomes of the top 1 percent of Americans from 2003 to 2005 exceeded the total income of the poorest 20 percent of Americans, data in a new report by the Congressional Budget Office show.

The poorest fifth of households had total income of $383.4 billion in 2005, while just the increase in income for the top 1 percent came to $524.8 billion, a figure 37 percent higher.

The total income of the top 1.1 million households was $1.8 trillion, or 18.1 percent of the total income of all Americans, up from 14.3 percent of all income in 2003. The total 2005 income of the 3 million individual Americans at the top was roughly equal to that of the bottom 166 million Americans, analysis of the report showed.

The report is the latest to document the growing concentration of income at the top, a trend that President George W. Bush said last January had been under way for more than 25 years.

Earlier reports, based on tax returns, showed that in 2005, the top 10 percent, top 1 percent and fractions of the top 1 percent enjoyed their greatest share of income since 1928 and 1929.

7. "Some people call you the elites; I call you my base."
Bush gazed around the diamond-studded $800-a-plate crowd and commented on the wealth on display.

"This is an impressive crowd - the haves and the have-mores," quipped the GOP standard-bearer. "Some people call you the elites; I call you my base."

10. Give Bush 4 bits and send him to the market for a lof of bread for
his sandwich at lunch today. Let him see how hard it is for families to try and buy a simple loaf of bread with 50 cents. The cheapest I've found this week was 59 cents. So close, yet so far.

Wasn't it his pappy who was mystified about a grocery store scanner? These people are so out of touch with reality it's frightening. It reminds me of the royal monarchies hundreds of years ago.

19. "Don't buy gas if you don't need it."
Actually he said that back in September, 2005. But it's the same mindset on display. He really does believe that the programs he's cutting have no connection to the people who are struggling for basic survival -- housing, groceries, and heating fuel. No, anything that smacks of "big government entitlement programs" is Bad and must be Destroyed.

21. His pat-on-the-back fakery won't pay any bills this week.
More and more people will be driven into financial despair, and they'll quickly come to realize exactly where the buck stops.

The American buck stops right at the feet of the bush administration, and it's not going anywhere but down, into the bush abyss.
