Democrats' Miller will hustle for GOP's Bush
http://www.ajc.com/news/content/news/election/2004/georgia/gop/0104/14zellbush.html

U.S. Sen. Zell Miller, Georgia's rebellious Democrat, said Tuesday he will campaign at President Bush's side throughout the year.

Miller's first task in trying to seal the Republican president's re-election grip on his crucial Southern base will be to introduce Bush at a $2,000-a-head fund-raiser Thursday in Atlanta.

The lame-duck senator is to be accompanied by "other Georgia Democrats" who also will endorse the president, according to the Bush-Cheney campaign. But Bush officials would not identify the other Democrats

He should be kicked out of the Democratic senate caucus and stripped of all his committee assignments NOW

13. Does this guy ever vote with us? If not then why not make a very public
statement about his party affiliation. Carter has already opened the door by stating that it was a huge mistake to appoint him. Kick his ass out of the party and let him be what he is, a Republican. That may be a knee jerk response without any consideration of the finer political points but that is how I feel right this minute.

17. Hell yeah, what is he still doing in the Democratic Caucus ???
He should be removed from the Democratic Caucus. I think we should write all the Democratic Senators and ask them to please bar the door to him. Raising money for Bush? Make him move his seat over to the other side of the aisle or a couple of them just pick him up and carry his worthless ass over there.

45. I'm not sure how easy that is
Committee assignments are agreed to by unanimous consent and would require unanimous consent to change them, I believe. He can be kicked out of the democratic caucus; he doesn't attend the meetings anyway. However, I just don't know if the leadership can just strip him of his committee assignments or if it would be more complicated. At least he isn't on extremely important committes. He is on Agriculture, Veterans' Affairs, and Banking so he is unlikely to get in the way of major legislation, at least in the committee process.

21. He's a Republican posing as a Democrat
Since he is saying he is a Democrat, it looks bad on the Democrat Party for him to vote for Bush. That is what he and other Republicans want. They're playing mind games with people and some people are so stupid they don't even know they are being used.

29. Revenge of the Dixiecrats!
There's trouble ahead for the Democratic Party if its right wing politicans aren't repudiated and driven to the margins. That means you, Zell Miller, and you, Joe Lieberman.

Quite simply, a party can't sustain a fundamentally moderate-to-liberal base when some of its highest-profile figures are regularly seen hopping into bed with the radically conservative opposition.

The tent is big, indeed. But no tent is big enough for traitors. Unless the Democratic Party leadership is replaced with people savvy enough to recognize as much, there will be further dilution -- and further defeat.

38. New Dixiecrats
Miller has all but bolted the party to stand with the party that seeks to put minorities and women in their place, and conduct wars against non-christian people all over the globe.
They seek to repeal the advances of the 20th century.
As of today, Miller and the southern scum that follow his example should be forever known and referred to as the "New Dixiecrats".
Lets nail that fucker to the wall and make it stick.

32. Zell, to my knowlage, has never shown any party loyalty...NONE!
I dont mind outspoken Dems and those on the left to speak thire mind about what they do not like about the Democrats..Thats one of the reasons that makes us great I think..Unlike the Republi-zombies..Who would follow the party line anywhere. But the Dems for the most part have party loyalty..Zell has none, Nada, zip..He is nothing more than a democrat by name only. I think he is one just to make the dems look bad..I really think the DNC should do something about Zell..I dont mind a centerest dem..or a dem that is a bit on the right side like lieberman. ( although DU is a bit hostile twords that. But i dont blame the people here at all. Its quite understandable..Even though i think a good poltician should listen to all americans even though they dont agree..Bush and the rightys that have hijacked the GOP does none of those things..Its war to them. And any voice on the left should be squashed or worse..so i do kinda agree with the not likeing those dems that are a bit to center even though I still would vote for and like them...OK tangent over ) .But Zell is a republican thru and thru..He does nothing but make the dems look bad at every turn..Dare I say WORSE than Nader! Ive said it before and ill say it agian...
ZELL SHOULD SWITCH OR GO..We dont need him!!

33. I don't think they CAN kick him out and take his committee seats.
If they kick him out of the caucus the Republicans immediately rebalance committees to reflect the new partisan balance. Based on recent rebalancings, I presume that would mean one fewer Democrat on each committee... so , sure... he loses his seat, but we can't replace him, and several other Democrats lose THEIR seats on other committees.

Worse, he takes it as an excuse to go back on his word and switch parties and we've got a "Jeffords" news cycle for a week or two during the primaries.
