Kerry Decries His Own Negative Attacks

Little Rock - Senator John Kerry is saying interesting things these days about negative campaign attacks.

This morning Senator Kerry said: "Today we see he has gone back to the old style negative attack ads of campaigning, when the real target is George Bush."

But John Kerry could say the same thing about his own campaign, which held a press conference and issued an e-mail attacking General Clark in New Hampshire.

"Before Senator Kerry moved into old-style attack mode, he said he was a friend and great admirer of General Clark's and that he would never say anything critical about him. The American people are tired of these negative attacks and politics as usual. Instead of attacking people, General Clark wants to bring the American people together and bring a higher standard of leadership to the White House," said Clark National Press Secretary Bill Buck.

Kerry's praise for General Clark:

In September 2003, Kerry Said Clark Was a "Very Qualified, Very Distinguished Individual...I Will Never Say Anything Critical About Wes Clark." On September 4, 2003, Kerry said, regarding Clark, "He is a very qualified, very distinguished individual, a friend of mine, I might add, and I will never say anything critical about Wes Clark."

In September 2003, Kerry Said, "I'm a Great Admirer of Wes Clark's." On September 4, 2003, Kerry said, "I'm a great admirer of Wes Clark's."

2. I'll never get tired of the attacks

I like seeing one rival airing out another rival's dirty laundry. It means that one person can't lie about their record and get away with it.

I always liked seeing one crook cut the throat of another crook. It is justice at it's finest.

3. Kerry supporters questioned Clark's Democratic credentials

And all they did was point out that Clark's relationship to the Democratic party is historically sketchy.
The real attack came in the release about Clark's too cozy relationship with defense contractors.

To energize his flagging presidential campaign, Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) has taken recently to denouncing inside-the-Beltway corruption and influence peddling.

Last Friday in New Hampshire, he railed against the influence of lobbyists and pledged to shine light “on the secret deals in Washington.”

But during his Senate career, Kerry has helped special interests, even against the apparent interests of his own constituents. This helped cement ties with lobbyists who donated thousands of dollars to his campaign. More...
as for those "democratic credentials" - ot sounds like the neocons patriotism...
If the party of Zell Miller is too good for Clark, I am too good for it. These Mayflower democrats will drive people away. After voting in the primaries, I am gone baby! Not worthy!

That's his job, to help the people he represents.

"One of those companies, Rockbestos Surprenant Cable Corp., was a constituent of Kerry’s based in Clinton, Mass. Rockbestos pleaded with the Coast Guard in a January 1999 letter not to exclude its cables manufactured to the UL 1309 standard."

Kerry's not in this for the money.

5. Boy, Kerry's so-called attacks seem to contain a lot of details

are these details untrue? Has Kerry inaccurately represented Clark's record? If so, Kerry should retract, or clarify what his people are saying.

It's strategy like this that put Dean on top in the first place. Keep it up, John! make your campaign about the other guys...

Also Kerry criticized Clark for "becoming wealthy after he left the military."

Sorry, Clark wasn't born with a trust fund, wasn't Skull & Bones, & stayed married to his 1st wife, unlike Kerry, who married $600
million.

Hypocrisy abounds from the these people.

I never posted an anti Dean or Kerry comment, until they lied about my candidate. But I will continue to post against smear jobs.
