Industrial Production Up 0.1 Percent
WASHINGTON - "Industrial production at the nation's factories, mines and utilities rose by only 0.1 percent in December, marking a slowdown after a sizable ramp up in activity the month before.

The increase reported by the Federal Reserve Friday came after big industry production jumped by 1 percent in November, even stronger than previously estimated. November's performance marked the biggest gain in four years.

Economists were expecting industrial production to cool off a bit in December given November's brisk activity. Analysts were calling for a 0.5 percent increase. Still, with December's gain, it marked the fourth straight month that industrial production expanded."

1. 0.1 Percent sounds as PHONY as the 1,000 new jobs....
...supposedly created in December. Are these numbers simply made up so that positive gains, however tiny, could be claimed for the month?

5. I worked for a company once that was so desperate to show big profits...
...that they once touted a quarterly result of "$0.01 million" ($10,000).

Sounds like they're working at Treasury now...

Consumer Sentiment Highest Since Nov 2000

NEW YORK (Reuters) - U.S. consumer sentiment enjoyed its biggest one-month jump in more than 11 years in early January, signaling that the economy was likely at a turning point that would lead to better hiring.

4. As stated by the "Federal Reserve". Like I would believe any numbers
that come from the federal government. Remember all those wonderful numbers saying the tax cuts wouldn't cause the budget deficits? Remember all of those wonderful numbers that said it was fiscally ok to do away with the estate tax? Remember all of those wonderful numbers that said the Iraq war wouldn't cost 87 billion? Remember all of those wonderful numbers surrounding the election in 2000? Remember all of those wonderful numbers that said tax incentives would create X amount of jobs?

Like I would believe any number that came from this federal government. The actual rise in polllution must be alot worse then they are saying.

16. The economy is really booming,
ain't it?

(BTW, this week's corrections showed a loss of 1,000 jobs last week. So job growth was 0.00000%. Surprise...not.)
