Washington-AP -- Top Democrats are already taking aim at President Bush's State of the Union Address, which he is to deliver Tuesday to a joint session of Congress.
Senate Minority Leader Tom Daschle says Democrats are ready to lay out challenges to the president's record, which Bush is expected to highlight.
Daschle says "The real test is not whether the president's words ring triumphant, but whether they ring true." The South Dakota Democrat also says that the president's policies have not worked "as advertised" for most Americans.

Four days before he is to give his State of the Union address, President Bush came under scathing criticism today from top Congressional Democrats in anticipation of the speech.
"Sadly, if the past is prologue, the president's speech will be another missed opportunity to offer the leadership worthy of a great nation and an agenda that addresses the urgent priorities of the American people," Representative Nancy Pelosi of California, the House Democratic leader, said today.
She was joined by Senator Tom Daschle of South Dakota, the Senate minority leader, who had equally unkind words for the President.
"The president's economic philosophy seems to be premised on the belief that if you reduce oversight, let polluters pollute, give tax breaks to the wealthy, and let big businesses avoid taxes entirely by calling an offshore post office box their corporate headquarters — those businesses and individuals will ultimately respond by creating American jobs," Mr. Daschle said.
