Global Warming Growing More Lethal Than Before
Source: MedIndia, India

the fatalities related to global warming, like respiratory illnesses and cardiovascular diseases have doubled than it was before.

According to a report in New Scientist, the study, carried out by Mark Jacobson at Stanford University in California, reveals that air pollution associated with elevated carbon dioxide levels is already responsible for around 22,000 deaths every year.

When these are added to casualties from extreme weather events, it doubles the number of fatalities that can be linked to global warming.

For the study, Jacobson modeled the effect of CO2 levels on air pollution and estimated the resulting impact on people's health.

1. Only 22,000
that's not enough to make people/governments/corporations change their ways. When it's in the millions, then maybe this "global warming" thing will be taken seriously.

lots of co2...you're right about Venus but I bet Venusians would freeze their tails off here. When I moved from Hawaii to the East Coast I was cold for like, three years straight.

18. You're right.
If it were, the 18,000 per year (or more) who die because they don't have health insurance coverage would not die in vain.

12. Of course, they'll both be dead by then
as will most of us. Passing the buck won't solve a damn thing. They may as well pledge to give each and every one of us a free cyanide pill with plans like those.

9. Again, what's needed is NET NEGATIVE Greenhouse Gas emissions, and WAY sooner than 2050
Jim Hansen, in another thread that I started on this issue a little while ago, as one of the LEADING climatologists on the issue of the Greenhouse Effect since the 1980s (he was among the first), has already noted the need for net negative GHG (Greenhouse Gas) emissions, as we have ALREADY PASSED the tipping point of the melting of the summer arctic sea ice, with ENORMOUS consequences and implications for further problems.

14. Indeed. He stated that we need to maintain CO2 at 350 ppm or less
Otherwise, we are flirting with disaster.

We're currently OVER 380 ppm, and skyrocketing towards 400 ppm by 2010.

Like you said, we've already passed the tipping point.

11. Clearly, we must ban cars in all public places.
If you want to kill yourself and make yourself all stinky with exhaust fumes, that's your right. Just don't expect me to put up with your filthy, fatal habits.

Pardon me, I'm going outside for a smoke.

EVERY YEAR, and yet "fighting terrorism" is what we're spending Trillions on?

15.  I don't understand why the hell they talk about 2050
Many or us won't be here and not one of these new presidential hopefuls will be here . It's just words shot into some futuristic world .

We have elections every 4 years and who ever is next can screw with everyones head even more which is exactly what they all do . It's always far off into the future they speak of .

It's like the joke of corn based fuels , hell we already know land is depleted and we are running out of water so what's the point in the corn deal .

Mans ignorance is what got us here and it will be mans continued petty ignorance that will end our existence .

They don't even know what the effect of fuel made from corn will be other than alot of rusted out engines .

People seem to think that the new so called green jobs and products will be done or made in america , no one talks about this other than to toss out the phrase . green jobs . Think of cheap labor, and there is where these green jobs will be .

Jesus , I am glad I will be dust before then .

17. I recently drove to Scottsdale AZ from
Nothern CA and the smog extends from the ocean to beyond Scottsdale. The desert has brown skies and the skies of Scottsdale are dense. All the way up the 5 smog enveloped us until we moved north of Santa Rosa. I could taste the air in the LA area. It's really horrifying.
