Justice Department to monitor voting in three Mississippi counties
Source: CNN

WASHINGTON (CNN) — The Justice Department will monitor primary voting in three Mississippi counties that have a history of alleged voting irregularities, it said Monday.

Federal authorities will monitor elections Tuesday in Bolivar, Jefferson Davis and Madison counties "to ensure compliance with federal voting rights statutes," said the department's Civil Rights Division. Division attorneys will coordinate federal activities and stay in contact with local election officials, the DOJ said in a written statement.

Only two weeks ago the DOJ and Bolivar County settled a lawsuit involving alleged violations of a federal voting law. The court order, signed by a federal judge in Oxford, establishes procedures for the county to follow with regard to provisional ballots, known in Mississippi as affidavit ballots.

The Justice Department alleged Bolivar County had failed to provide a system which allowed voters to determine if their provisional ballots were counted. The rural county in the state's Delta region is about two-thirds black.

Jefferson Davis County, in rural south central Mississippi, is 40 percent white, 60 percent black. Madison County, which includes Canton in central Mississippi, is 60 percent white and 40 percent black.

5. This is the same DOJ that was ignoring all the suits up to now?
Yeah, that doesn't stink. Not at all. Completely passes the smell test. Really.

7. No no no there is a "history" of "allegations"
they don't even state that their is any track record of actual violations.

See all that matters is that they got someone to make the allegation (op-ed even seem to serve the purpose) then they can come in and perpetual this myth.

34 indictments since 2002-22 convictions that is it. Total. Nationwide.

because of her fraudulent vote in the wrong precinct in FL?

9. Over the last couple of months, over 10,000 voters were illegally purged in Madison County.
Without notice, not even to election commissioners.

Thousands of names removed from Madison County voter rolls

By Lucy Weber • lweber@mcherald.com • March 5, 2008

More than 10,000 names have been removed from Madison County voter rolls since January by an Election Commission member without prior knowledge or approval of the other four.

District 1 Commissioner Sue Sautermeister of Ridgeland said today she was within her rights as a commissioner and acting within the law to move the voters from active to inactive status, thus removing their names from voter registration books that will be used Tuesday in primary elections.

“I believe I was,” within the boundaries of the Election Commission in taking action, Sautermeister said.

Circuit Clerk Lee Westbrook said the names of voters will be restored before Tuesday’s primary election ...

Republican congressional candidate David Landrum and his wife, Jill, were two of the voters removed. Westbrook said she personally restored both of them to the official books.

12. Shock Troops
This is pretty frightening that the DOJ will actually send operatives out into the field to directly interfere with elections. Does anyone recall this happening before? This certainly doesn't sound like a free election when the party in power sends its partisan appointees to "monitor" balloting.....

14. Oh no! Bush's DOJ criminals are going down there to confer with local KKK/CCC/Loyal Bushies
Edited on Tue Mar-11-08 12:25 PM by tom_paine
Looks like they have targeted these counties for massive Electoral Fraud in November.

I wonder which Bushie is carrying the Vote Stealing Patch Codes and which Bushie is going to have the responsibility of doing the Black Voter Purges correctly, so they leave no trace.

Local Bushies can't do fraud anywhere with anywhere near the capability that National Bushies can.

This is the worse possible news for these three Mississippi counties. The worst.

(unless by chance these are honest people who's intentions are exactly what they say...but you know as well as I that the Bushies have targeted DOJ-Civil Rights as one of the first places to staff with KKK/CCC types, so that is VERY unlikely)

Standard Bushie and Nazi Procedure. Once you gain all the power of the State, mimic the functions of law performed by the old, destroyed Republic, but use them as base for your own Bushie-Nazi criminal operations.

Brace yourselves, Mississippi African-Americans, the Bushies are coming for you, and THIS time they come in the disguise of the Law, but like your small town Sheriff in the 60s, they are the evil criminals tere to help the local KKK/CCC disenfranchise you.
