Bid To Impeach Judges Over Gay Marriage Fails

Legislation to impeach Virginia judges if they were to rule in favor of same-sex marriage was defeated Monday in committee.

The bill, by Delegate Robert G. Marshall (R-Manassas), would have deemed any judge who ruled against the state's Defense of Marriage Act to be "unfit" and guilty of "malfeasance in office". It would then have allowed the legislature to impeach and remove them from the bench.
