Gordon Brown has promised that the Government will hold a full-scale inquiry into the mistakes made in Iraq before and since the invasion five years ago.


His concession marks a significant break from his predecessor, Tony Blair, who steadfastly refused to hold a wide-ranging inquiry into the war.

Mr Brown, however, insists it is not the right time for an immediate investigation as the situation in Iraq remains "fragile" and British troops are still trying to bring stability to the country. The Prime Minister said: "There is a need to learn all possible lessons from the military action in Iraq and its aftermath

YES! There will be an inquiry on Iraq, once again chaired by a semi-retired civil servant whose remit will not allow him to criticise the government in any way, and who will no doubt come to the conclusion that they're all jolly good chaps in government and we shouldn't blame anyone, and how was anyone to know that things would turn out this way (apart from the 2 MILLION who marched in London).. The usual Whitehall whitewash.

It makes me wonder if politicians actually realise how disconnected the public is.

And yes, can someone explain to me how a semi-comatose public inquiry in London could possibly affect the outcome of a war going on thousands of miles away? That somehow 'our boys' will be dispirited by the process? The armed forces are well aware what complete cretins our politicians are!

I mean with the British history of the the slave trade in all. if there is something to investigate its a black preacher's disrespect of that history. :sarcasm:
