WP: (Leahy, Lieberman) Question Scalia-Cheney Hunting Trip
Excerpt of short story in Friday's Washington Post; no link yet.

Democratic Senators Question Scalia-Cheney Hunting Trip
By Charles Lane
(c) 2004, The Washington Post

WASHINGTON — Two top Senate Democrats challenged Chief Justice William Rehnquist Thursday to explain the Supreme Court procedures that permitted Justice Antonin Scalia to spend several days recently duck hunting with Vice President Dick Cheney, who is a named party in a case pending at the court.

Judiciary Committee ranking member Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., and Governmental Affairs Committee ranking member Joseph Lieberman, D-Conn., who is running for president, wrote Rehnquist asking for information about Supreme Court ``canons, procedures and rules'' on the recusal of justices from cases in which ``their impartiality might reasonably be questioned.''

``When a sitting judge, poised to hear a case involving a particular litigant, goes on vacation with that litigant, reasonable people will question whether that judge can be a fair and impartial adjudicator of that man's case or his opponent's claims,'' the senators wrote.

4. Scalia's impartiality is under question by just getting out of bed.
He's unaplogetically biased.

This should be a big story.

These nutcases have never had ANY business being "judges". God help us if this batch of extremists ever get to nominate another one.
