Chief executive Roger Deromedi will speak to analysts next week for the first time since being named the food giant's sole leader last month.
Analysts widely expect him to announce the layoffs of about 10pc of the workforce as well as plant closures and further streamlining of the company's cost structure.

Earlier this month, the company announced a new organisational matrix structure that sets up the company to operate more efficiently in a global environment, much like other large consumer products companies such as Procter & Gamble.
