"It's been a lot of ups and downs -- the energy and excitement of going to Iowa, the disappointment of coming in third and then the feeling of defeat by how the media dealt with it. And now being re-energized by how Gov. Dean has handled it," Colombo said.

And they say it would be a travesty if the moment that has come to be called Dean's "primal scream" was the turning point of his run for the presidency.
"I was in Iowa, and the speech in that room made a lot of sense. There was phenomenal energy, and he was responding to that energy. That's what he does, and that's what gets people so excited about this guy," said Rick Jacobs, chair of the California campaign.

"There are a lot of Democrats and progressive people in the Santa Clarita Valley, we just aren't quite as visible given the demographics of the city," Colombo said. "I mean, you should see me ... just a typical middle-aged Santa Clarita woman."
