U.S. Broke International Law, ACLU Says
The American Civil Liberties Union filed a complaint Tuesday with the United Nations, alleging that many immigrants imprisoned and deported during the investigation into the Sept. 11 terror attacks were denied fundamental rights under international law.

In the complaint, filed on behalf of 13 people arrested under federal authority shortly after the attacks, the ACLU asked the United Nations Working Group on Arbitrary Detention to declare the treatment of the immigrants to be "arbitrary" and the U.S. policies to be a violation of international law.

"We are sending a strong message of solidarity to advocates in other countries who have decried the impact of U.S. policies on the human rights of their citizens," Anthony Romero, ACLU executive director, said in a prepared statement.

The complaint marks the first time the ACLU, among the largest civil liberties organizations in the United States, has filed a complaint with the U.N. working group.

2. Actually, taking Limbaugh's case was probably the best thing for them to d
If it truly is an invasion of privacy to have medical records available to the prosecuters, then they should be there. I personally don't see why that isn't standard practice, but I'm no expert on such things. But to work for this monster in his hour of need, when he has railed against them for years, certainly portrays them as noble and Rush as the scumbag he is.

3. ACLU is truly non-partisan and I love them for that...
They would defend a right-winger like Limbaugh, and I don't mind that, if the case has legs run with it. I do not want the rights of ANYBODY to be violated simply because of politics.
