Funny that it breaks now.

Do you think that we already have him? Then we can arrest him during the Democratic National Convention...or how about on Halloween, days before the election.

26. Exactly what I'm thinking
For an administration that holds so much secret for "National Security " reasons, they sure don't mind telegraphing their military offensives when it suits them to do so.

55. Did anyone mention that we could've been doing this in Dec 2001?
While Wolf and the rest of the propaganda machine were championing this bold new campaign in the war on terrorism, did any of them accidentally comment that:

  • We defeated the Taliban and uprooted Al Qaeda and OBL back in December of 2001, just 3 months after 9/11?
  • We're now getting around to sending troops after Osama, TWO FUCKING YEARS later?!?
  • If we think that this military effort will work now, two years later, why didn't we do it back in 2001 -- rather than giving OBL & Al Qaeda 2 years to raise additional monies, gain add'l support, and build & prepare defenses, etc?

This administration MUST be held accountable.

December 17, 2001: The Afghan war ends with the elimination of the last major pocket of Taliban/al-Qaeda resistance.

One would think the lead story would be Kay's testimony. But I guess one phone call from KKKarl to Wolfie changes that.

17. unless musharaf
gives our forces full access to the Pakistani frontier, I suspect this will just be an operation to reclaim territory in Afghanistan that the Taliban has retaken over the past year or so.

Having said that, i don't think he will. He won't have the support of the Taliban/Al-Qaeda friendly Pakistani security service, nor would the frontier chieftains like him exerting much authority over them.

18. Paris, Milan launch bin Laden "Capture Couture" Spring collection

"For us, it's all about the fabric, drape, texture," whispered our Balenciaga source. "Our capture ensembles will resonate with the mature bin Laden hunter who knows who she is, and what she wears well."

By contrast, the venerable House of Dior is expected to make an unprecedented bid for the ingenue on perhaps her first OsamaQuest. "Spring means flowers, and this very special bin Laden spring means LOTS of blossoms for the Dior collection. Think fresh, think fragrant, unexpected colors - our collection says CaptureWear can be a little whimsical, a little airy," an unnamed Dior source was quoted as saying.

20. Pakistani government is very nervous about this
The Pakistani government denied today that it would allow such an operation to extend into its territory. Reuters says that "such an intervention by some of the 11,000 U.S. troops in Afghanistan would be political dynamite for Pakistani President Gen. Pervez Musharraf, who has allowed only a very limited U.S. military presence in his country. He has cooperated with Washington against al Qaeda but is under pressure from Islamic parties at home."

27. This is dangerous
If it becomes public that US troops are operatin on Pakistani soil, Musharraf will have to take some strong action to keep his more conservative (fundamentalist) opposition from overthrowing his regime. Wouldn't that be lovely? A Taliban type of regime with nukes!

39. Isn't BC mediating negotiations betw Pak and India?
There was a very low key article mentioning this, that the leaders of those countries had asked for his help in mediating their crisis.

If bush can screw with Pakistan and mess a potential peace treaty up it could mean more war in the region, more imminent threat to the US. We have a serious troop strength problem, so maybe the cabal figures they could shove through their tactical nuke plan.

about Pakistan.

In fact, when we didn't go in and finish the job and get Osama, that's when I started smelling a rat about this administration.

Look at it this way: If Osama Bin Laden actually was behind 9/11, then we should stop at nothing to get him. I don't care if it means invading Pakistan, or whatever. Make that clear to Pakistan, and they'll let us in. Diplomatic pressure on India to make sure they don't do anything stupid while we're in there, and wham bam thank you ma'am, we look under every rock in Pakistan until we find the fucker.

Did we do this? No. We went to Iraq ......?????

It all smells very very bad.

32. Well, you gotta set up the Surprise for plausibility
If Osama pops out like a jack-in-the-box, people will be a bit incredulous. So you launch a series of dramatic well-publicized operations a few months before, and "capture" Osama then.

A good stage magician gets the audience to suspend disbelief, and applies misdirection where apropos to distract from the mechanics of the trick. Same principle applies here.

33. someone here posted about a UBL/Powell question
just this week - about already having UBL in custody...can't recall the poster.

Powell was on msnbc(?) and was asked about UBL - don't know if the words "October Surprise" were used.

Maybe they're trying to sweep all their War on Terror issues under the rug, which will leave them with only all other issues of daily existence in the US to deal with during the Pres. campaign.

We've had a flurry of WoT wrap up activity just this week:

  • Kay report
  • Hutton report
  • smear job of Intel communities in US and UK
  • announcement of shut down of 9/11 commission by June
  • Launch grand quest for UBL - get ready to gag at the name for this one
  • murmurs of Rumsfeld wanting to attack Syria

    35. will Rummy get his wish with the B61-11…..
didn’t even know this existed…I’m sure Rum & Wolf are itching to test it out….and I think they are crazy enough to do it….

The B61-11 was designed to destroy underground military facilities such as command bunkers, ballistic missile silos and facilities for producing and storing weapons.
However, it could be used against the warren of tunnels and caves carved under the Afghan mountains that are often cited as a potential refuge for the U.S. government's prime suspect, Osama bin Laden.

PLEASE! Bush is so transparent! Gosh... will OBL be caught or killed right around the Democratic nomination? Or will Bush wait for September 11th to do it? Are Americans that stupid? First we have the Kurds capturing Saddam and handing him over for a Christmas surpise for Bush.. before his SOTU. Then, we have Bush trying to hand over the keys to Iraq in time for Fourth of July, now this? It makes me so ill to see that Bush has presided over the deaths of more people than the 9/11 attacks, in his pursuit to be re-elected. Repulsive!!

Osama is said to be in Afghanistan, near the Pakistan border. We let on that we're going in to Afghanistan soon to get him, but we'll not cross the border into Pakistan.

We don't expect Osama to get wind of our plans and get the hell out of Afghanistan, perhaps into Pakistan where we say we won't go. We even give him a head start.
