When President Bush accepts the Republican nomination at Madison Square Garden on Sept. 2, one prominent New York Republican isn't likely to be standing with him - Mayor Bloomberg.
The mayor says he's "thrilled" to be giving the welcoming speech for the Republican convention, but added that GOP revelers shouldn't expect to see much of him at the convention after his official greeting.

When warned by a caller on the "Brian Lehrer Show" that many Democratic voters "will be angry with him if he endorses Bush at the podium," Bloomberg hinted that he won't even be in the building for much of the four-day event.

The Republican mayor of the nation's most populous city won't support his party's pResident at the convention in his own city. Bet that's never happened before.

Bloomboy is up for re-election in 2005, in a city where Democrats outnumber Republicans 6-1. Rudy Giuliani never embraced Bob Dole in 1996, and he won with 57% in 1997.

4. Yes, he said he would be working with the police

to deal with the protestors. Welcome to the police state of NYC. You should see how they corralled the HALLOWEEN PARADE WATCHERS into tight little fenced-in section. How they blocked ALL THE STREETS on either side of the parade and wouldn't let anyone walk on them. This for an innocuous parade where everyone has always had a fun and peaceful time. Just wait for fall. They will lock this place down TIGHT.

But if he does anything to ruin Bush's day here I may have to reconsider not voting for him. He's a smarmy jackass, but snubbing President Shitstain will make him OK in my book.

Big fundraising event in the city starring Dick Cheney. Pataki was there. Not Bloomberg, who "had a previous engagement." Didn't say what it was. Hah!

He forgave all the traffic tickets during the blackout, which I think is an act of fairness.

He took responsibility for the lady that had a heart attack during a botched "no knock" search. He said, “As mayor, I failed to protect someone I was chosen to work with. We all failed - humanity. An innocent human being was taken from us, and our actions caused it."

My main beef with him is the smoker ban.

I don't think that he is all bad.
