300 Tibetans detained in Nepal: police

KATHMANDU, Nepal (AFP) — Police in Nepal said Sunday they have detained at least 300 Tibetan protesters outside the Chinese embassy in Kathmandu.

The protesters were quickly bundled into waiting vans as they tried to march towards the main gate of the embassy shouting "China liar, Free Tibet," an AFP reporter at the scene said.

"We have rounded up more than 300 Tibetans," Ramesh Thapa, a senior police officer told AFP, saying the demonstrators would be released later in the day.

Some 150 police and several police vans had surrounded the building before the protesters arrived in the area ...

Bush is near. He will fight for your democracy as soon as he gets there don't worry. China's big so he should have no problem finding it on the map.

2. They are guests in Nepal and do not have the right to do this.
If they were Nepalese citizens, they would have that right. But they are foreigners interjecting themselves in Nepal's relations with China.

4. Free speech applies to anyone in a country and not just citizens.
I suspect Nepal is doing a cat-and-mouse game with Tibetans just to half-heartedly appease the Chinese.

5. I was talking about Nepal's laws.
Not necessarily what "should" be. I was just making clear that Nepal's government would act differently toward Nepalese citizens.
