4. 527. * will have to answer for what he has done.
BTW - Everyone needs to remember *'s comment last year about no more deaths after this March.

5. Can you find that quote?
It would help immensely in my daily battles against conservative idiocy.

11. I don't think it was a quote.
I'll look, but I can distinctly remember a report in the early fall(I think) that said * wanted no more American deaths in Iraq after this March. It would probably be attributed to "an adminstration official."

6. Sooner or later someone will
put up the death count. I just wish that people would realize that bushy caused this problem. All these terror alerts are just to keep our minds off the war and the casualties. They are there to make people believe that he is protecting us. Stop the damn war stupid.

7. Leap Year in Iraq
By the end of this month, there will be 35-40 (and maybe more) American soldiers - young men and women in their prime of life, healthy, with families, friends and colleagues, full of love and laughter - who will be dead. Dead. Because of this war. Almost a guarantee at this point. These will be the February dead - the first February dead, and one can only hope the only February dead.

Think of them now, nervously fingering a trigger, or relaxing on a berm, or playing soccer with some kids, or reading a magazine. See them sitting in their cots, or scanning the deadly horizon, or writing a letter. They will be dead before the end of the month. LOOK INTO THEIR FACES. That's a sad vision, indeed.

The motherfucker hasn't scarfed them up yet, so their eyes still light up the desert, their boots still mark the city streets with a history of movement. But the motherfucker has its days and nights, its hours and its averages. The motherfucker says one thing:

TIME IS ON MY SIDE.

9. How can the public possibly keep concluding,
according to the media, that the war in Iraq "was" worth it? They keep saying "was" as if no one else is going to get killed or maimed by this filthy war. Yet the media keep telling people that Americans, overall, support it and think it "was' worth it, whatever the hell that means.

And "Bring It On", did the resistence.

Note to Mike 63--- I was part of the Cluster Fuck.

No one I knew or know today, who was part of it, thinks it was a good idea.

16. Understood. I was in the military at the time, -not- sent to VN but lost
3 friends who were. It's hard not to feel guilty about that.

10. Also, this article says the death count is 524, an understatement ...
Edited on Sun Feb-01-04 09:21 PM by Ilsa
...to be sure. CNN had it 525 several days ago. Lunaville says 526 through Feb. 1 2004.

17. doesn't include
the three whose whereabouts are still unknown:

" The Department of Defense announced today the identity of three soldiers listed as Duty Status Whereabouts Unknown (DUSTWUN) who were supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.  The soldiers under the operational control of the 101st Airborne Division were involved in two incidents in Mosul, on Sunday, Jan. 25.  During a river patrol with local police, four soldiers fell into the Tigris River after their watercraft capsized.  Two OH-58 Kiowa Warrior helicopters conducted a search, and one of the search helicopters crashed into the river.

            Reported as DUSTWUN are:

Staff Sgt. Christopher Bunda, 29, of Washington State.  On Jan. 25 Bunda’s boat capsized during a river patrol on the Tigris River.  He is assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 3rd Infantry, Fort Lewis, Wash.
1st Lt. Adam G. Mooney, 28, of Cambridge, Maryland.
Chief Warrant Officer Patrick D. Dorff, 32, of Minnesota.

Mooney and Dorff’s helicopter went down in the Tigris River during a search.  They are assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 17th Cavalry, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, N.Y.
These incidents are under investigation."
