Leak staffer ousted - Frist aide forced out in an effort to assuage Dems
Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist’s (R-Tenn.) top aide on judicial nominees is expected to announce his resignation at the end of this week — a sacrifice offered by the GOP leadership in hope of persuading the Democrats to wind down the fight over leaked Judiciary Committee memos.

The aide, Manuel Miranda, had spearheaded the Republican effort to push President Bush’s judicial nominees through the Senate in the face of fierce Democratic opposition.

3. hmmmm
When will the GOP learn they can't always have their way? Doh! I forgot! Bush is the same fool who said that dictatorship would be easier to rule America.

"If this were a dictatorship, it'd be a heck of a lot easier, just as long as I'm the dictator."---George War Bush, 18 December 2000

4. Miranda, the aide,
is out... ok, so the GOPers have found their scapegoat

but, how much further does it go and should we go there?

Miranda is an aide - which means he has to report to someone else. According to the news reports, the computer hacking has been going on for awhile, this means higher-ups have known about it for awhile. This isn't an one-shot occurrance.

So who did he first give his hacked info to, and did they know that this info was obtained by illegal hacking? If they were aware that the information was obtained illegally -- why didn't they take action to stop it and fire Miranda at that time?

Seems to me that in not taking action against Miranda (and others) when the GOPer higher-ups first became aware of this that they are accomplices in this crime.

9. It should be pushed further. Indeed.
But you know Frist will stand there with a straight face and say he had no idea those internal memos were't being hand delivered to him by Dems, even though he leaked them.

Like I said in another thread, are we really so dazed as to let this garbage slide?

And by we I mean collectively, not the people at this site. I know these progressives take no shit.

6. Bullshit
This is something that should be taken for granted, Frist should resign also. Mostly they need to find out what is being erased from Frist office while it is closed for the ricin scare. I guarentee that they are guilty as hell and they needed a ricin scare to buy time, erase things, cover up shit, and throw the Dems a flunky for sacrifice.

7. Not good enough
He's asking us to assume the information stopped with the staffer. Accountability demands Frist to resign if he used stolen information for political purposes. Democrats - let's pursue this one. Don't let the Republicans convince you(again)that calls for accountability will "backfire".

11. A sacrifice!
No one with half a brain believes this aide decided to do something like this on his own. Unless they are paying big bucks to shut him up I hope he sings like a bird. frist is as evil as any other in the cabal and I'm certain is the one behind many of these nasty crimes, he needs to go down! Especially in light that the cat torturer appears next in line to the throne.

12. Carrot and stick
Any fine and legal costs will be covered.
Any jail time (unlikely) will be recompensed.
Any word out of place and not only do "further crimes" get unearthed,
there will be no point in getting out early as you will have no-one to
go home to.

Any questions? Didn't think so ...

15. "announce his resignation"?
no - that is definitely crap!

This guy should be "fired" with prejudice and not allowed to resign.

That is a whitewash and the investigation should continue.

Why were these memorandums published in prominent RW papers and in Novakula's column?

This was much higher than an "aide".

The demand for a full investigation should continue.

Frist should resign and be exposed for the lying sack of crap that he is.

Won't cost you anything to call your congresscritter or senator - they transfer you free.

Let 'em know this is JUST the beginning. Let 'em know they better damn well start USING that backbone transplant they've recently acknowledged receiving.
