Mortgage Rates Up Again

WASHINGTON, Feb. 5 (AP) - The average rate on 30-year mortgages increased to 5.72 percent, up from 5.68 percent last week, Freddie Mac, the mortgage giant, said Thursday in its weekly nationwide survey of mortgage rates.

For 15-year mortgages, a popular option for refinancing, rates rose to 5.03 percent this week, up from 4.97 percent last week. Rates for one-year adjustable mortgages increased to 3.61 percent compared with 3.59 percent last week.

This was the second week in a row that mortgage rates went up

1. Last August I got a 30 yr Cal Vet loan at 4.5%

I hope all vets get the benefits I have gotten. I think it will take a Dem President and a Dem Governor for future vets to get the same kind of treatment. Bush and Arnold would kill such programs as Cal Vet loans I think. At least some good came to me for going to Nam.

2. Lock 'em in now, folks!

I got me a shiny new 5.5% mortgage with zero points. Dropped my payments by $60/mo. and took $5000 out to pave my driveway in the spring. Won't see that happen again in my lifetime.
