Australia Doesn't Plan Weapons Inquiry
Australia Doesn't Plan Weapons Inquiry
Mon Feb 2,10:25 PM ET

SYDNEY, Australia - Australia has no need for a special inquiry into its intelligence on Iraq (news - web sites) because it is sure Saddam Hussein had illicit weapons, Defense Minister Robert Hill said Tuesday.

Australia received its intelligence from Britain and the United States, whose leaders both plan to name special panels to investigate the intelligence they used for going to war in Iraq.

But Hill said he had confidence in the intelligence Australia received and there was no doubt Saddam had weapons of mass destruction.

"There were weapons. That is not in dispute," Hill told reporters in Sydney. "The issue is what happened to those weapons."

the leaders of these English-colonized settler-nations have some brass ones, I'll give them that.. and of course, the punishments that they deserve will probably elude them, as it has to those who came before them.

3. Seriously, Australia doesn't need an inquiry into the intelligence
Edited on Fri Feb-06-04 09:03 AM by Jack Rabbit
If I have it right, Howard and his people simply accepted what the Bushies told them. Therefore, any inquiry the Australians would have about intelligence would be one into the American and British intelligence.

A better inquiry might be one into Howard's intelligence. Would anyone playing with a full deck take the word of Bush on face value?

6. Exactly
Why did Howard accept without reservation the case Bush, Blair and their people presented?

8. It almost seems like a rhetorical question
However, the fundamental question those Downunda should be asking Howard are the same questions we should be asking Bush and our friends on the other side of the Pond should be asking Blair: Why did you take us for war when there was so little justification for it?
