Group fights anti-war inquiry
http://desmoinesregister.com/news/stories/c4788993/23473647.html

I think me smells a rat here!!!

Bruce Nestor, a Minneapolis lawyer representing the guild, said he will argue that the subpoena has a "chilling effect on the rights of people to associate with the National Lawyers Guild and with the rights of our members."

Meanwhile, members of the Iowa congressional delegation and legal experts expressed concern about the appearance that the government is investigating activists involved in peaceful opposition to war.

"I don't like the smell of it," said Sen. Tom Harkin, adding that he did not know details of the investigation. "It reminds me too much of Vietnam when war protesters were rounded up, when grand juries were convened to investigate people who were protesting the war."

3. Logical inference equals more war

...on the way. Why bother to suppress anti-war dissent when the momentum has been on making it seem as if we are looking for a way out of Iraq?

The civil rights implications of the Patriot Act and the regime's public intent to make it permanent speak for themselves. Fascism has already been enacted by law. Your travel, reading habits at the library and bookstore, as well as all your financial accounts, are already the lawful interest of secret investigation. The Republic is dead. All that remains is to carry out what the bumbling doldts in Congress have already authorized, erect the outwardly fascist empire and throw away the appearances of constitutional government.

4. The Neo Fascists are not the Borg.
Resistence is NOT futile. We must fight against the Neo Fascists with all legal means that we can muster. If the Dems in Congress don't have the spine then we must fight them through the Courts. The Neo Fascist regime is starting to show signs of cracking. We must keep the pressure on and not relent.
