Janklow begins serving jail time ...

... Janklow and his lawyer tried to get the judge to let him begin serving earlier in the week, but no luck. It was peculiar, I thought. Anyway, here ya go...

<snip>

Former congressman and governor Bill Janklow walked into the Minnehaha County Jail this morning to begin serving a 100 day sentence for second-degree manslaughter.

1. I await the day that I see W, Powell, Rice, Rummy, Wolfowitz
led away in shackles. Janklow is typical of repuklicans who think they are above the law. The times, they are a changin'.

3. 100 days?
And all you have to do is be negligent, a repeat offender, decline alternatives which would have kept you safe not to mention your passenger, and then kill someone.

Boy, some folks get the breaks. Anyone know what his community service will be? I have a couple of suggestions for the court.

5. i wouldn't want to be him. i think justice was served.
Circuit Court Judge Rodney Steele sentenced Janklow last month to 100 days in jail but allowed him to begin community service after 30 days. That means Janklow will be able to spend 10 hours a day, six days a week outside the jail but will behind bars each night.

7. Justice served? Hardly
I'd be willing to be they even kicked someone else out of their cot to make sure Janklow didn't have to sleep on the floor, like most people do when they have to serve less than 6 months.

It was a repeat offense. This is a miscarriage of justice.

8. I would not want to be him either.
I would be damaged beyond belief, and live knowing that nothing I ever did could restore the family I destroyed from my own criminal action. I'd rather to serve 20 years that skate away on some cake-walk make-believe sentence for the horrible crime I committed. And then, I would have to know that justice had not been done, would never by done, and that the only beneficiary of the poor justice served is my own, self-serving, lying, sorry ass.

No, I would not want to be him. Of course, if it was me, justice would probably be served. For real.

6. I've had a change of heart re: Janklow
At first, I wasn't outraged by the short sentence this jackass murdering SOB got. I just heard that a civil suit was being brought against him by his victim's family. And I thought, "Good they'll hit him where it really hurts, his pocketbook."

But then I thought, "100 days? Then he's back out on the street again, speeding away and how long until he kills someone else.?"

This bastard deserves to have his pocketbook hit AND he deserves a long, long time in prison. And to have his license revoked.

So my change of heart = going from being disgusted by this pig, to being outraged by the special treatment he (a killer and raper) gets.

12. I guess that
if I were in jail serving years for lesser charges and this fat arrogant slab comes waltzing in and out, I think that I would maybe have a special "talk" with him at some time. I would take this opportunity to let the little SOB know how I felt about him and his 100 days.
