Houston official wants morality clause in venue contracts
Associated Press
HOUSTON - A county commissioner seeking to avoid repeats of surprises like Janet Jackson's breast-baring Super Bowl halftime show says he wants a clause added to contracts of all entertainers who perform at such events.
Harris County Commissioner Steve Radack says a so-called "morality clause" would be included for performances at county-owned facilities like Reliant Stadium, Reliant Center and Reliant Astrodome.
"I'm not trying to push to dictate society's morals," Radack said Tuesday. "But I will say this: As a member of Commissioners Court and a 20 percent vote on these facilities, I believe it is clearly appropriate to set some standard." (snip)
"Basically, I want to make it clear that in county venues, we expect wholesome entertainment, and basically set some parameters," Radack said.
