McCain's name nowhere to be seen at Palin rally
Edited on Sat Nov-01-08 09:39 PM by Mark E. Smith
Source: CNN Politics.com

POLK CITY, Florida - At a boisterous Sarah Palin rally in Polk City, Florida on a Saturday afternoon, one
name was surprisingly absent from the campaign decor - John McCain's.

Looking around the Fantasy of Flight aircraft hangar where the rally took place, one could see all the
usual reminders that it was a pro-McCain event. There were two large "Country First" banners hung on
the walls along with four enormous American flags meant to conjure the campaign's underlying patriotic
theme. Many of the men and women in the audience wore McCain hats and t-shirts.

But on closer inspection, the GOP nominee's name was literally nowhere to be found on any of the official
campaign signage distributed to supporters at the event.

Members of the audience proudly waved "Country First" placards as Palin delivered her stump speech.
Those signs were paid for by the Republican National Committee.

The other sign handed out to supporters read "Florida is Palin Country," but those signs were neither paid
for by the Republican National Committee nor the McCain campaign.

62. DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE PALIN - populism, nationalism and fear are tactics that work
She may be stupid, yet she is determined.

Voters like to believe, and she will say whatever they want to believe in. She will do whatever, sink as low, betray as much as it takes to win.

The fact that she is racing headlong to join the Washington political elite just as she claims to be an outsider, the fact that ink is barely dry on billions of earmarks for Alaska just as she claims to be against pork barrel spending, does not matter. Voters do not act on fact, they act on spin.

Do not be fooled - populist, nationalist, divisive tactics of fear are effective. They were effective for Hitler, for Bush and they will be effective for Palin.

Even more effective is the Karl Rowe tactic of spreading lies and then playing the victim. Palin uses this too (she is a fast learner!)

Spread the facts about Palin and her tactics. Discredit her at every opportunity - show her for what she is.

Edited on Sat Nov-01-08 09:48 PM by glinda
This is about Armageddon. She doesn't nor can't care about her VP position. If she gets in she will throw everyone under the bus including you and me. She will throw the Constitution out. She will stop spending money on Programs. She will push the button. This is why I do not understand the absolute stupidity of the Media for not bringing this up in a substantial way. They are doing the Planet a grave disservice.

She's poison to the ticket (as if McCain isn't poison enough to his own ticket) and perhaps he no longer wants her associated with his name? Interesting, no matter what the reason.

Really all they require is for her to follow script. Can she do even that? Time will tell. She may actually be a true believer, a maverick for armageddon. In which case:
here come the bus.

36. Not only a pedigree but also a blank slate
The rest of the country hadn't really seen the younger booosh until he ran for prez. 41 wasn't universally reviled, and 43-to-be talked a good talk during the campaign. At the time the BFEE and SCOTUS installed him, the country was in a state of confusion; this had never happened before. And so evenly divided that there was no popular consensus.

The only thing that kept 2004 close enough to get 43 re-selected was 9/11 and the war, which pumped up his abysmal popularity numbers and made the "changing horses in midstream" argument viable.

Palin's had two months in the spotlight. Her popularlity peaked shortly after her debut and has gone down down down down down ever since. There is nothing about her that appeals to the rational mind, only to the emotional gut. How much of the electorate is capable of turning off the rational completely and going only with the gut? I think we'll know on Tuesday.

19. Sarah Palin's ego is being fed by the...
...neocon psychopaths in the Republican party.

Did you see who was standing behind her at a rally yesterday? Tom Delay?

Who sticks up for Palin...Bill Kristol..Dick Morris...and the rest of the thugs.

Sarah is hanging with a rough crowd. The neocons never had much use for McCain. He
was never "one of them." They tolerated McCain, and they're sidling up to Palin
right now---and letting her know that her future is with them and that McCain is a nobody.

That's why she's bloated with self importance.

35. Palin is being a wee bit presumptuous there isn't she.
It looks like she is implying that SHE is the one people are voting for to be President. This is one more indication, to me anyway, that McCain is not going to be the next President. Even if the Republicans manage to steal this election too, the old goat will be kicked to side, and her empress Palin will wear the crown.

A Republican victory exists only in their dreams because Obama has this one in the bag.

55. But here's the best part! Check out the 79 comments that were made before the comments were closed.
Out of the 79 comments that were entered by CNN readers:

One, about the 40th down from the top, is a criticism of CNN itself by a user signed "No Hillary = No Obama", who is apparently bitter about the fate of Hillary Clinton.

77 are pro-Obama, anti-McCain comments.

And one, number 70 out of the 79 comments, represents the lone anti-Obama comment in the entire list. It's signed by "Bob from S S" and is written in all upper-case.

This is how McCain's supporters are represented in that list of nearly 80 comments from CNN readers:

MANY DO NOT HAVE TO BE REMINDED , WHO IS BEST FOR THE COUNTRY.

THEM, PEOPLE CAME TO SUPPORT SOME , ONE AT LAST IS STEPPING UP AN TELLING THEM WHAT THE OTHER SIDE IS LIKE.

OBAMA, PROMISE ONE THING TODAY , CHANGES IT TOMORROW . NEXT DAY STANDS UP AND SAY'S " I NEVER SAID THAT "

ONE THING HE DID SAY" ON MEET THE PRESS , WHEN I GET IN , THE NATIONAL ANTHEM HAS TO BECHANGED, ALONG WITH THE FLAG , " MAKE IT MORE ISLAMIC , SO MICHELLE AN I CAN ENJOY IT. YES, WE HAVE WENT TO MANY FLAG BURNINGS IN OUR DAY'S.

IF IT HAPPENS IT IS A END OF AMERICA ERA. OUR FOUNDING FATHERS WOULD LIKE TO COME AND FACE SUCH . A LOW BLOW . YOU COULD NOT GO MUCH LOWER.

NO NO OBAMA , ANOTHER LIE JUST OUT HE DIDN'T KNOW HIS AUNT WAS AN ILLEGAL AN WHAT NEXT????.

IT IS TIME TO STAND UP , PUT DOWN THIS DNC CHOICE , CLEAN UP HIS BACK GROUND AND TRY 50 YRS FROM NOW.

It sounds to me like it's becoming recognized by most Repubs that the McCain/Palin ticket is going to go down in defeat, so they're pumping Palin for 2012.

How many losing VP candidates have gone on to win a Presidency? Not many. Sarah will go under the bus long before 2012.

They see McCain as incidental, maybe even a nuisance, that their God can providentially move out of the way to allow this fanatical and evil woman to become president.

Palin-McCain is the way they see this race.
