Presidential Electors Confirm Obama as Next President
Source: VOA

Presidential electors met in state capitals around the United States on Monday to confirm last month's presidential election results that will make Barack Obama the 44th U.S. president on January 20.

It is a tradition that goes back to the beginning of the U.S. republic and the first presidential election in 1789.

Several weeks after the presidential election popular vote, presidential electors meet in the various state capitals and officially cast their ballots, as required by the U.S. Constitution.

Mr. Obama won the election over Republican John McCain on November 4. Mr. Obama won 365 electoral votes, while Senator McCain won 173.

In all but two states, the winner of the popular vote is awarded all of that state's electoral votes.

9. Um, nobody's "on" Honolulu.
If you're IN Honolulu, you're ON Oahu.

Sorry. My nitpick streak.

3. I won't accept his eligibility unless film of his birth in front of a U.S. landmark is produced.
And even then I want expert testimony verifying the authenticity of the film, and 100 witnesses found for the birth itself.

And a cookie. I want a cookie.

16. Not really
Edited on Mon Dec-15-08 04:40 PM by ih8thegop
We voted on which set of electors would vote - those who support McCain or those who support Obama - and they then cast the votes for President and VP.

So to say that this vote is the only one that matters is not exactly true. Who votes depends on how the voters vote.

21. Though last time, didn't one of them cast a vote for Edwards?
Or was it Kerry-Edwards? It seems to me someone cast a vote for Edwards for president instead of Bush.

24. They cast a vote for Edwards, but not John Kerry
That's what's known as a "faithless elector"--one who votes against what the people voted.

15. But wait!
We haven't even begun to investigate the Gov. What did Obama know? When did he know it? The small minds like Ann Coulter want to know. Did the Gov help Obama forge his birth certificate???? Hummmmm maybe the Gov is distracting all of us for Obama so no one realizes that this vote took place. Maybe John McCain won. I say we still can't say till we ALL go to Hawaii and take a look for ourselves. :sarcasm:

The ignorance of Freepers is utterly jaw dropping. Even aside from the fact that they actually buy this Obama BC bullshit, their stupidity is astounding:
