Coleman's Lead Dwindles to 2 Votes in Minnesota Senate Race
Source: Fox News

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The tight Minnesota U.S. Senate race between Republican incumbent Norm Coleman and Democratic challenger Al Franken has become incredibly close -- with Coleman clinging to a two-vote lead.

That's the latest tally after the state Canvassing Board spent a third day ruling on disputed ballots. There are hundreds of challenges yet to decide, as well as thousands of withdrawn challenges that have yet to be tallied.

Coleman had entered Thursday's session leading Franken by 360 votes. But that lead eroded all day as the board considered a pile of challenges brought entirely by the Coleman campaign. The pile included a big chunk of withdrawn challenges, many of which went quickly to Franken's column.

4. I wish they would post photos of any adjudicated ballots.
To be sure we'll hear of Limbaugh complaining ad naseum about how the process cheated conservatives. It would be nice to have it online to show the reasonable deluded Republicans what reality looks like.

10. The great thing is that each ballot is posted on line so you
can see that the Board is being very fair.

12. Many ballots ARE online (perhaps all of the challenged ones)
The overwhelming impression you get is that, when two million people mark paper ballots, a small percentage of them will find quite a variety of ways to screw it up.

I assume that, if you're voting in person, Minnesota lets you take a spoiled ballot back to the official at the polling place and say, "I messed this up, may I have a replacement ballot?" Then the official takes back the old one and gives you a nice clean new one. Instead of doing that, though, some voters cross stuff out, draw circles and arrows to try to convey their meaning, carelessly mark near two different candidates' ovals, etc.

Anyway, here's the link for Wednesday's ballots: <http://senaterecount.startribune.com/ballots/index.php?review_date=2008-12-17&index=1> -- it'll take you to the first ballot, which is a pretty easy one. You can find more complicated problems at http://senaterecount.startribune.com/ballots/index.php?review_date=2008-12-17&index=35 and http://senaterecount.startribune.com/ballots/index.php?review_date=2008-12-17&index=36 among others. On for the Star-Tribune's ballot project, look on the right-hand side under the advertisement and you can create an account and log in to cast your own vote on each challenged ballot. If you don't want to join the newspaper's "Virtual Canvassing Board", though, you can just look at the ballots without voting.

8. We are seeing first hand one of the many ways pugs
steal elections. Looks like Al is standing tall and will easily become the winner unlike some of our dems who just fold tents, declare defeat and scurry away, which is what the pugs count on.
